RadioOnFire.com - Multiple police body camera recordings from a violent encounter officers had with a Baltimore man earlier this week were released to the public.
A video stitching two recordings together captured the incident from the angles where two separate officers stood in proximity to 35-year-old Allen Hosea Johnson Jr. when he was taken down. Johnson Jr. continually denied being in possession of anything as he was commanded over and over again to show his hands during a stop made in Cherry Hill on Wednesday, November 29.
When the leading officer got close enough with his gun drawn to make contact with Johnson Jr., a scuffle broke out, and they fell to the ground.
Before the situation turned into chaos, the officer was seen reaching for the pocket in Johnson Jr.'s sweater. It then becomes difficult to make out who initiated the physical confrontation that ensued. Two gunshots were heard, and one more goes off as they wrestled. The last shot reportedly pierced the officer's hand. A backup officer then comes and begins to stun Johnson Jr. with a taser. As Johnson Jr. cries out, the injured officer directs one of the others to get a gun that Johnson Jr. allegedly tossed, as it was located under a fence.
The injured officer was not identified, but he is said to be a 30-year-old with three years on the force. He was released from the hospital on Friday. Johnson Jr., on the other hand, was taken for an evaluation and then brought to jail. He is facing attempted first and second-degree murder, first and second-degree assault, felony second-degree assault of a law enforcement officer, and drug charges.
