Mo'Nique Defends Roseanne Over Racist Tweet 'Mistake': She's Not Racist

RadioOnFire.com - Mo'Nique recently shared her thoughts on Roseanne Barr's tweet about former Obama senior advisor Valerie Jarrett, and Mo'Nique believes that Roseanne made a mistake.

She explained, “We’ve all said and done things baby that we wish we could take back and swallow and say, ‘Oh.’ But when you’re in the public eye, you can’t and it’s out there. But to put the title of ‘racist’ on her…

“My sister made a mistake and she said something I know she wishes she could take back. But what I would ask is we don't throw her away.”

Mo'Nique went on to share a story about Roseanne showing her love and support when she had the "Mo'Nique Show," which you can hear more about in the above video.

Mo'Nique acts as if Roseanne's twitter comment was the first verbal infraction.

Roseanne Barr’s tweet referencing Jarrett, who she said is what you’d get if the “muslim brotherhood and planet of the apes had a baby,” was not the first time the Roseanne star has made racist comments toward black women. In 2013, Barr said former National Security Advisor Susan Rice was a “big man with swinging ape balls” in a since-deleted tweet.

Roseanne has also made Islamophobic comments, including an attack on former Hillary Clinton adviser Huma Abedin, whom she called a “jew hater” and “filthy nazi whore” in 2016, according to The Daily Beast.

California Wildfire Destroys 500 Structures, Nearly Levels Community

REDDING, Calif. (AP) — In the small northern California community of Keswick, only a handful of homes remain.

The air is thick with the smell of smoke and chemicals. The rubble of people’s lives still smoldered a day after the so-called Carr Fire moved through Shasta County like a freight train.

The flames so thoroughly ate up homes that it’s difficult to tell how many once stood above the pile of ash and smoking rubble that remains.

Somewhere in there was the home of Shyla and Jason Campbell.
Jason Campbell, a firefighter, was six hours away battling a wildfire burning near Yosemite Valley when the Carr Fire moved in on his home and family.
Shyla Campbell, 32, said it was nearly 2 a.m. Thursday when she got an official alert to evacuate.
“It’s huge flames, it’s coming up the hill, and everyone’s out and we’re watching it, then it goes down, and everyone’s like, ‘Oh it’s going out,’ ” she said. “And I’m like, ‘No, it’s going down the mountain and it’s going to come back up the next ridge.’ ”
She was right.
The family spent the night at a hotel. When Jason Campbell returned from the blaze he was fighting on Friday, he found his own home had gone up in flames, along with an RV and a boat.
The Campbells’ home of five years is among at least 500 structures that officials say were destroyed by the fire, which also swept through the historic Gold Rush town of Shasta and hit homes in Redding, a city of 92,000 about 100 miles south of the Oregon border.
“It’s tough,” Shyla Campbell said Friday from the city of Shasta Lake. “I just have to figure out where we’re going to stay. We’re just trying to stay away from the fire.”
So are about 37,000 people who remain under evacuation orders Friday. Nearly 5,000 homes in the area were being threatened by the 75-square-mile (194-square-kilometer) blaze, which is just 5 percent contained.

Fabolous Rejects Plea Deal in Emily B Assault Case, Headed to Grand Jury

RadioOnFire.com - Earlier this year, it was reported that Fabolous was expected to take a plea deal in his domestic abuse case with the mother of two of his kids, Emily Bustamante. The plea deal reportedly would've had Fabolous' charges dismissed after he completed the pre-trial intervention program, but now the case is possibly headed to a Grand Jury.

According to Bossip, on Wednesday (June 25), Fabolous' lawyer told the judge that the rapper wouldn't be taking the plea deal and would take his chances with the Grand Jury. Prosecutors said that the case would be reviewed by a Grand Jury early next month, but Fabolous' lawyer doesn't think it will go that far. He stated, "It won’t necessarily go to the Grand Jury. It’s procedural."

More details to come.

Boosie Addresses His Daughter's Mother Recording and Posting Their Phone Call

RadioOnFire.com - Boosie sat down with DJ Vlad of VladTV to address some of the controversy between himself and his daughter's mom. It is a sad case when you have two parents publicly feuding. Rachael Wagner, the mother of Boosie Badazz's daughter Torianna, recently hopped on Instagram Live and accused the rapper of threatening to hit their child.

Boosie fired back and tried to discredit Wagner. He jumped on social media and dragged her sexual history while claiming she has 30 boosting charges against her. “Bitch, you got 30 fucking charges from stealing from the store,” Boosie says in the video. “You steal with your child, everything.”

Boosie also brings up Wagner's alleged drug use, claiming drug addiction runs in her family and even mentioning their daughter discovering Wagner's drug paraphernalia. "Bitch, you forgot my daughter found a crack pipe and brought it to you," he states. The BooPac rhymer and Wagner have had their legal issues in the past. Last year, the two went to court over custody of their then 9-year-old daughter after Wagner said Boosie refused to return her. The case was eventually thrown out.

Things got real intense when Wagner posted audio footage of what she claimed was Boosie threatening to give their daughter a black eye. During a phone call, Boosie can allegedly be heard saying he will "put a bag" on Wagner. The "Heartless Hearts" artist also calls his daughter a "bitch" and adds that he will "black her fucking eye" when he sees her. Wagner even accused Boosie of being responsible for the murder of her brother, which he was acquitted for. "You know, it ain't what the streets have, they go by what you can prove," she said of the case.

Boosie said Wagner comes from a poverty stricken family and he just wanted his daughter to be good. Hopefully, these two can eventually work things out.

Nod For Disney's $73.1B Acquisition Of Fox Entertainment

NEW YORK (AP) — Disney's $71.3 billion acquisition of Twenty-First Century Fox's entertainment division is one step closer after shareholders approved the deal Friday.
The tie-up brings together Marvel's X-Men and Avengers franchises and creates an entertainment behemoth in the digital streaming era. The shareholder vote caps a saga that began in December 2017, when Disney made its first offer for part of Rupert Murdoch's media conglomerate. It kicked off a bidding war with Comcast, which dropped out last week focus on attempted buyout of the European pay-TV operator Sky.
The Fox deal will help Disney compete with technology players like Amazon and Netflix. The agreement is not expected to close for several months and still requires regulatory approvals.

Aberdeen Police Shoot Man They Say Charged Officers With Knife

RadioOnFire.com - Aberdeen police say a man was shot after rushing officers at an apartment complex. Spokesman Lt. Will Reiber said the suspect, who police aren't yet identifying beyond as a 23-year-old white male, was critically injured and undergoing surgery Friday afternoon at Shock Trauma in Baltimore.

Reiber said police arrived at around 10:36 for a report of a suspicious person acting erratically in the 100 block of Hamilton Place. Police say the man entered an apartment complex's management office and threatened to kill a staff member there.

The man then left the office, Reiber said, and confronted a resident with "racially insensitive dialogue," which led the resident to retreat into their apartment.

The first officer responding radioed back to say the suspect appeared to be under the influence and had a knife, then awaited an additional officer who had a Taser. Officers used all verbal means to get the suspect to surrender, then an officer deployed a Taser. That was ineffective.

"The unsuccessful Taser deployment then led to the suspect charging the officers," Reiber said. "The officer in fear for his life then fired at the individual."

Officers then attempted lifesaving efforts until an ambulance arrived, Reiber said.

It's not clear how many shots the officer fired. The officer, who was not identified, has been placed on administrative leave until an administrative and criminal review of the incident is complete, Reiber said.

Aberdeen officers have training on Taser use and dealing with individuals suffering from a mental illness, Reiber said, but officers do not have body cameras. He asked anybody who was at the complex or who may have seen the incident to tell police.

The shooting happened in the 100 block of Hamilton Place. One person has been shot.

Drivers are being asked to avoid the area. Police say there is no ongoing public safety risk.

More information wasn't immediately available.

Baltimore Police Department Slammed By Judge At Federal Court Hearing

RadioOnFire.com - Baltimore's revolving door of police commissioners took center stage Thursday at a federal court hearing. The federal judge overseeing the consent decree order repeatedly pushed the city to get stability in police leadership.

The hearing comes as the city is currently taking applications for the permanent police commissioner.

The judge called the departure of Darryl DeSousa and the federal charges against him of failing to file tax returns a "big blow." He said reform needs stability to at the top.

Interim City Police Commissioner Gary Tuggle got credit for holding down the fort of the Baltimore Police Department, but the judge overseeing the department's consent decree also repeatedly stressed the need to get a permanent chief on board.

"I will remain deeply troubled about the probability of success until the leadership void is successfully addressed. Who will be the next commissioner? Will he or she have what it takes to lead the department out of the wilderness?" the judge said.

City Solicitor Andre Davis responded that 10 candidates have already applied.

"Some people thought no one would apply for this job, but people have and people know it's a challenge. We are going to find the right person to lead us out of the wilderness, because we are in the wilderness," Davis said.

For his part, Tuggle told the judge he is a "transformational leader."

"At the end of the day, I know I am capable of running this police department. I am also capable of building capacity. I have shown that throughout my police career," Tuggle said.

The judge harshly criticized the department's response to the shooting death of Sean Suiter in Harlem Park and the officers who were supposed to be following new policies on search and arrest.

Referring to the virtual lockdown of the neighborhood, the judge asked, "What policy was governing command and control of that scene? Reports are going to say it wasn't coherent."

Responded Tuggle: "I don't want to sit back and, Monday morning, quarterback another commissioner. I think the commanders during that time did what they thought was right."

The department's technology gaps are a big item in the consent decree. One example: After the death of Freddie Gray, the department equipped its transport vans with cameras. But, as the judge noted, the cameras are not on any network, so the data just hits a dead end, staying in the van.

Also, a member of the monitoring team said the department's radios will become obsolete in December.

LeBron Says He Regrets Naming His 14-Year-Old Son After Him

RadioOnFire.com - LeBron James and his media company Uninterrupted are set to drop the new HBO series The Shop in late August. A few clips of the show have been released as teasers of the non-scripted, discussion-based show featuring some of the most notable figures in sports and entertainment.

In one of the released clips, James opens up about his family life and how much he enjoys watching his sons play AAU basketball to a room that included Jon Stewart, Odell Beckham Jr., Snoop Dogg, Candace Parker, Michael Bennett, and Maverick Carter. Stewart posed the question to James, "How do you give them a piece of mind that they don't have to be you?" to which LeBron replied that he sometimes regrets the decision to name his son after him. LeBron attributed the decision to name his son LeBron James Jr. as an overcompensation of his own father being absent.

LeBron said that he would be the father that he didn't have and giving his son his name was one of the first steps.

Russell Simmons Selling Homes, Staying in Bali, Which Has No US Extradition

RadioOnFire.com - Hip-Hop mogul Russell Simmons has listed his $8.25 million Los Angeles home for sale amid mounting sexual assault accusations. In addition to his home, Simmons is reportedly unloading his yoga studio in LA and a $9.92 million penthouse in New York City's Financial District.

Sources say that Simmons is spending quite a bit of time in Bali amid the allegations. Bali, a province of Indonesia, has no extradition treaty with America which some are speculating is Simmons reasoning for being there. However, a spokesperson for Simmons stated that he remains US-based and that he is merely traveling more. "Russell divested himself of his active U.S. business interests last year to focus on his spiritual practice and serving his community, [...] As part of that journey, Russell has traveled to many spiritual destinations around the world but continues to retain active family presence and residence in the U.S."

At the moment, more than a dozen women have come forward accusing the rap mogul of sexual misconduct and assault that dates back to the early 1980s. After the initial accusers came forward, Simmons stepped down from his posts at All Def Digital, Def Pictures, and his yoga lifestyle brand, Tantris. In his resignation statement, Simmons said his companies would be run by a diverse group of culture-moving executives and that he would take his time away to commit himself to “personal growth, spiritual learning and above all to listening.”

Carmelo Says He Won't Come off the Bench for a Team Until He's Ready

RadioOnFire.com - Carmelo Anthony's stint with the Oklahoma City Thunder was quite a forgetful one. Anthony recently commented on his time in OKC and said that it "wasn't a good fit." Melo had his contract traded and subsequently bought out by the Atlanta Hawks making the veteran out of Syracuse a free agent. Reports have circulated that Houston will be the likely landing spot for Melo to play alongside longtime friend Chris Paul and reigning league MVP James Harden.

The Rockets were close to beating the Golden State Warriors last season and many are speculating how good, or worse they'll be with the addition of Carmelo. Many analysts believe, however, that for Houston to be a good fit for Melo, he needs to consider coming off the bench. Carmelo recently sat down with Jemele Hill of The Undefeated and said that he wouldn't mind a role coming off the bench, it'll just be done on his terms:

"I know how to play this game of basketball. I've been playing it for a long time. When I feel like I'm ready to take that role, then I'll take that role. Only I know when it's best for me to take that role. I'm not going to do that in a situation where I still know my capabilities and what I can do. And at the end of the day, the people who really matter know my capabilities and what I can still do. You start getting to the media and debates, it's going to always be kind of back-and-forth."

Should Melo accept a bench role to play for a contender like the Rockets?

Blac Chyna’s Mom asks Amber Rose to help her See Her Grandkids

RadioOnFire.com - Blac Chyna’s mom, Tokyo Toni, says her daughter is keeping her grandchildren from her and she’s reached out to Chyna’s pal Amber Rose for help.

“Hey @amberrose you are the only person that I know that knows my daughter who does not fear her,” she wrote on Instagram Wednesday (via Us Weekly). “Can you do me a favor if it’s anywhere deep in your heart can you please tell her I said let me see those kids! I’m so very sorry to come at you in this way on social media but there’s no other way.”

She goes on to say her daughter has surrounded herself with “sorry ass chumps” and “yes people” who Toni hates, and feels that the only way to get to Chyna is by going through her close friend Rose.

“If you could do this OK if not OK love you kiddo COD I said hi and kiss Sebastian hopefully I’ll see you guys before I’m dead and gone love always Tokyo!,” she wrote, ending with the hashtag “Ibeatslutwalkthisyear.”

Once close, the relationship between Chyna and Toni has deteriorated over the last year, with Toni taking several public shots at her daughter. In May, she claimed she hadn’t seen her grandchildren, King and Dream, from Chyna’s relationships with Tyga and Rob Kardashian, in over a year, according to Complex.

Just last week, Toni also put Chyna on blast for refusing to fund her book, “Silent Whispers: The Art of War.”

It’s unclear if Rose has seen the post. Since it went up, all she has posted is a picture of herself with her middle finger up, captioned, “Entrepreneur, Ex Stripper, Millionaire, Hoe, Baby Mama, Ex Wife, Girlfriend, Daughter, Tennis Ball head…. Keep it going.”

The same goes for Chyna, whose only social media activity has been to post three photos of herself wearing a yellow outfit, one of which she captioned, “Living my best life.”

Her attorney declined a request for comment.

Woman, 22, Charged In Alleged Drunk Driving Crash That Killed Grandmother, Grandchild

RadioOnFire.com - Police have arrested and charged a 22-year-old woman responsible for striking and killing a woman and her grandchild while they were taking an early morning walk on Monday, Baltimore County police said.

Callie Noble Schwarzman, 22, of Timonium, was arrested Tuesday night on a warrant for violation of probation for a drunk driving offense in Carroll County in June of 2017, police said.

Investigators obtained a warrant for her arrest Wednesday morning for DUI and vehicular homicide charges related to the deaths of 60-year-old Deborah Limmer and 5-year-old Delaney Gaddis.

While the Baltimore County Crash Team continues their investigation into the early Monday morning crash, preliminary findings indicate that the vehicle was traveling southbound on Girdwood Road when Schwarzman lost control just south of Treherne Road, veering across the roadway and onto the sidewalk, striking Deborah Limmer and Delaney Gaddis, who was being pushed in a stroller up the sidewalk toward Treherne Road, police said. The vehicle returned to the roadway and stopped just before Londonderry Road, police said.

During the course of the initial investigation a search warrant for the Kia Sorento that Schwarzman was driving at the time of the crash was obtained and evidence of alcohol and controlled dangerous substance was recovered, police said.

Schwarzman, who was transported to Greater Baltimore Medical Center, consented to a blood test which was submitted to the Maryland State Police Forensic Sciences Division for analysis, police said. The results of the test remain pending.

After consulting with the Assistant State’s Attorney’s Office for Baltimore County, Schwarzman is preliminarily charged with the following traffic-related offenses and remains held without bail at the Baltimore County Detention Center pending a bail review hearing:

Cellphone Video Shows Interaction Between Boy, 13, And Baltimore Police Officer

RadioOnFire.com - Baltimore police said they are reviewing a case involving an interaction between an officer and a 13-year-old boy in northeast Baltimore this week.

The boy said he went into a neighbor's yard Monday looking for his cat. The neighbor said he thought the boy was trying to break into his home. Either way, the police were called and neighbors recorded cell phone video.

One of the videos shows an officer ordering the boy, Deontay, and his 11-year-old sister to sit down on a stoop. That video ends abruptly.

Another video picks up with the altercation between Deontay and a police officer already in progress.

"He told them get on the ground. I said, 'No, they ain't getting on no ground," said Deontay's mother, Kimberly Ravenwood. "She 11 and he's 13. They not getting on the ground. So I told them, 'come on.' When I said that, he grabbed my son, like close armed him, hit him down, tried to get the handcuffs on him, then he started closed fisting my son."

The video shows a lot of chaos, including Kimberly's 11-year-old daughter trying to intervene, and others telling her to back up.

Video shows Deontay kicking and trying to get away as the officer walks him, in handcuffs, to a police car.

Kimberly said Deontay has a mental disability, and that a separate officer eventually called an ambulance.

"I still can feel it -- a little knot -- and I got a black eye. My teeth and stuff," Deontay said.

Police issued the following statement about the case late Wednesday afternoon:

"This was clearly a very hectic and chaotic scene that the officers were dispatched to. We take these matters very seriously and Commissioner Tuggle has demonstrated his commitment to transparency and accountability. This case is being reviewed by the Office of Professional Responsibility as we speak, and that would include the video clips taken by civilians and posted to social media, as well as the police officers body worn cameras, that we hope provide a more conclusive version of events from start to finish."

11 House Republicans Seek Impeachment Of DOJ’s Rosenstein

WASHINGTON (AP) — A group of 11 House conservatives introduced articles of impeachment against Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, the Justice Department official who oversees special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation.
The move came Wednesday after months of criticism aimed at the department — and the Russia investigation in particular — from Trump and his Republican allies in Congress. Trump has fumed about Mueller’s probe and repeatedly called it a “witch hunt,” a refrain echoed by some of the lawmakers. The impeachment effort is led by North Carolina Rep. Mark Meadows, who talks to Trump frequently and often defends him to his colleagues.
It is unclear whether there will be enough support in the party to pass the impeachment resolution, as Republican leaders have not signed on to the effort and are unlikely to back it.
Meadows, Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan and the other Republicans who introduced the resolution have criticized Rosenstein and Justice Department officials for not being responsive enough as House committees have requested documents related to the beginning of the Russia investigation and a closed investigation into Democrat Hillary Clinton’s emails.

The introduction does not trigger an immediate vote, but Meadows could make procedural moves on the House floor that could force a vote late this week or when the House returns in September from its upcoming recess. The House is scheduled to leave Thursday for the five-week recess.
The five articles charge Rosenstein of “high crimes and misdemeanors” for failing to produce information to the committees, even though the department has already provided lawmakers with more than 800,000 documents, and of signing off on what some Republicans say was improper surveillance of a Trump adviser.
The resolution also goes directly after Rosenstein for his role in the ongoing Mueller investigation, criticizing him for refusing to produce a memo that outlines the scope of that investigation and questioning whether the investigation was started on legitimate grounds. Mueller is investigating Russian interference in the 2016 election and whether Trump’s campaign was in any way involved.
It is highly unusual, if not unprecedented, for lawmakers to demand documents that are part of an ongoing criminal investigation.
In a statement, Meadows said Rosenstein’s conduct is “reprehensible.”
“It’s time to find a new deputy attorney general who is serious about accountability and transparency,” Meadows said.
It’s uncertain how many of Meadows’ fellow Republicans agree. Rosenstein, along with FBI Director Christopher Wray, faced dozens of angry Republicans at a House hearing last month. The lawmakers alleged bias at the FBI and suggested the department has conspired against Trump — but many could draw the line at impeachment.
“Impeachment is a punishment, it’s not a remedy,” House Oversight and Government Reform Chairman Trey Gowdy said shortly before Meadows introduced the resolution. “If you are looking for documents, then you want compliance, and you want whatever moves you toward compliance.”
The impeachment resolution came about two hours after GOP lawmakers met with Justice Department officials about the documents. Meadows said after that meeting that there was still “frustration” with how the department has handled the oversight requests.
Republican leaders, however, have said in recent weeks that they are satisfied with the Justice Department’s progress. Gowdy said after the meeting that he was pleased with the department’s efforts. House Speaker Paul Ryan has also said he is satisfied with progress on the document production.
Meadows heads the conservative Freedom Caucus and has sparred with Ryan on issues such as immigration and federal spending. His open threat of triggering a vote on impeachment — which he can do if he follows a certain set of procedural rules — could help him win concessions on other contentious issues before the House.
A spokeswoman for the Justice Department said she had no comment on the articles of impeachment. Rosenstein has overseen the Russia investigation since last year, when Attorney General Jeff Sessions recused himself from the probe following reports of his meeting with the Russian ambassador.
Democrats have criticized the Republican efforts to pressure the Justice Department, saying they are attempts to undermine Mueller’s investigation.
In a joint statement, the top Democrats on the House Judiciary, Oversight and Government Reform and intelligence committees called the move a “panicked and dangerous attempt to undermine an ongoing criminal investigation in an effort to protect President Trump as the walls are closing in around him and his associates.”
So far, the special counsel has charged 32 people and three companies. That includes four Trump campaign advisers and 12 Russian intelligence officers.
Democratic Reps. Jerrold Nadler of New York, Elijah Cummings of Maryland and Adam Schiff of California said Rosenstein “stands as one of the few restraints against the overreaches of the president and his allies in Congress.”
