IRS Extends 'Tax Day' After Website Crashes
RadioOnFire.com - Last-minute filers will have more time to pay their tax returns. Additional time was provided after a web page on the IRS' website crashed. Yesterday, the page was down for several hours and it started working again shortly after 5 p.m.
The IRS issued an apology stating: "This is the busiest tax day of the year, and the IRS apologizes for the inconvenience this system issue caused for taxpayers", said acting IRS Commissioner David Kautter. The new deadline is April 18 (today) at midnight. Reportedly, the IRS is expected to receive an estimated 17 million returns and 14 million extension requests this week.
