Kanye Reportedly Compares His Current Contract with EMI to 'Servitude

RadioOnFire.com - More details are coming out regarding Kanye West's pending lawsuit against Roc-A-Fella and EMI, while it's now being reported that he's likened the circumstances behind his deal to a form of servitude. As reported by TMZ, the lawsuit states that since there's no timetable within the contract, Kanye feels like he's essentially bound to them for the rest of his career.

In actuality, however, the terms of the contract state that he's required to deliver a certain amount of songs under the EMI label, while until that quota is met the deal remains active. For that reason, the deal has no fixed dates in terms of the contract's expiration, while it's unknown how many songs Kanye is being asked to fulfill.

Elsewhere in the lawsuit, Kanye mentions that in California, personal-service contracts can’t last more than seven years because it amounts to “servitude,” thus he believes the contract should have actually been voided back in 2010. If the judge rules in Kanye's favor, he would receive all the rights to his songs recorded over the last decade, including all of his hit records off My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, Watch The Throne, Yeezus, and The Life of Pablo.
