RadioOnFire.com - R. Kelly's team has been in damage control mode on the heels of new sexual misconduct claims and a protest movement that threatens to put him out of business. Consequently, two separate statements were issued on the R&B crooner's behalf on Friday, May 4, with his management following up to dispell the original word as unauthorized.
Early on in the day, a press release put forth by Katie Thompson of RKellyTours.comasserted that Kelly is a God-fearing family man whose legacy is being targeted for destruction by the media. Kelly's official representatives would later reject the former statement and deny any association with it, although they confirmed the 51-year-old singer might indeed employ Thompson. “We are looking into what went wrong here,” his reps confirmed.
In addition to rectifying the miscommunication, his team addressed the latest allegations that surfaced via a BuzzFeed report that covers the accounts of a woman who says she began what turned out to be an abusive relationship with Kelly when she was 17, and yet another mother who believes Kelly has her daughter in a sex cult.
The tone of the statement was just as accusatory of the media as Thompson's was, in part reading that, “All of the women targeted by the current media onslaught are legal adults of sound mind and body, with their own free will."
