Oprah Winfrey Weight Watchers Stock Worth $400 Million After $44M Buy

RadioOnFire.com - It's true that the most wealthy people in the world invest in ways that let their money work for them. Oprah Winfrey is a prime example of just that. In October 2015, Winfrey bought $43.5 million worth of Weight Watchers stock. Her investment is now reportedly worth more than $400 million.

According to reports, she bought her stock at $7 per share, but she now owns 5.5 million shares that were last trading at $75 per share. Weight Watchers stock has steadily increased since Winfrey began endorsing the product over two years. The company has exceeded expectations in sales and subscribers for the last several quarters.

In addition to doing print and television ads promoting Weight Watchers, Winfrey is also a member of the company's board of directors. Her heavy involvement and hands-on approach undoubtedly played a significant role in their growth. Several other celebrity endorsers have contributed to the company's success, including DJ Khaled, Eric Greenspan, and Kevin Smith to name a few.

Another factor in Weight Watchers recent success is its new Freestyle program, which expands the company's famous "zero points" offerings beyond fruits and vegetables to eggs, beans, chicken, and seafood.

Winfrey's business acumen is matched only by her philanthropic efforts. She donated a reported 360,000 of her shares to her charity.
