RadioOnFire.com - Things have taken a super ugly turn for former couple Matt Barnes and Gloria Govan. While the two have been divorced for years now, it looks like there's still some serious issues to be resolved; case in point, Govan just filed a lawsuit against the former NBA baller for defamation.
According to court documents obtained by The Blast, Barnes has slandered the Basketball Wives star in the media and on social media, hurting her ability to earn a living.
The documents list an example where Barnes claimed on social media that she allegedly stole money from their joint bank account to purchase homes for her family, made fraudulent transactions and forged his name on lease papers. Barnes also claims that his ex-wife prevented him from seeing his children and misspent child support payments.
Govan asserts that "the statements have caused her and continue to cause her harm to her reputation, causing her damages arising from mental pain and suffering, along with lost opportunities," writes The Blast.
Govan is suing for unspecified damages related to damage done to her reputation.
Matt Barnes, on the other hand, has reportedly filed to have the lawsuit thrown out. He claims since Govan is a public figure and everything he said was just his opinion, it shouldn't be accountable in a court of law.
