Amazon to Begin Leaving Packages in the Trunks of GM and Volvo Cars

RadioOnFire.com - Amazon is taking over the delivery business. The online marketplace offered customers a method to have their packages delivered inside of their home while they were away, which was viewed by many as intrusive. Now, Amazon is partnering with General Motors Co. and Volvo Cars to have packages dropped off inside the trunk of customers' cars.

37 U.S. cities have been included in the new app-based service which allows customers to give delivery agents keyless access to the trunks of their vehicles.

“I think what we’re doing in the U.S. with Amazon will be even more seamless and the adoption will be stronger,” stated the Chief Digital Officer of Volvo Cars Atif Rafiq in a phone interview with Bloomberg. “For Volvo owners, this is another way to take advantage of how they can use the car.”

“With Amazon Key In-Car, we’re fueling another convenient and secure way to get packages to our customers,” stated Amazon’s Vice President of Delivery Technology Peter Larsen in the statement to Bloomberg as well.
