Meek Mill Refused to Wear a Wire During FBI Investigation of Judge

RadioOnFire.com - In a striking new revelation, court documents filed Monday detail how Philadelphia Judge Genece E. Brinkley has been under investigation by the FBI over questions about her integrity and ability to rule with impartiality regarding Meek Mill.

It was reportedly Meek Mill himself who last year urged the feds to investigate Brinkley, as he believed she was being unfairly punitive in ruling that he had violated his probation because he allegedly refused to do her a couple of favors back in February 2016: one, drop Roc Nation and return to the management of her friend, Philadelphia-based Charles “Charlie Mack” Alston. Another, record a cover of a Boyz II Men song and shout out her name in it.

Meek Mill was also the reason the FBI's investigation into Brinkley came to an end, reports the Philadelphia Inquirer. Federal agents wanted the Wins & Losses rapper to secretly record conversations he had with the judge; however, Meek refused and the investigation was halted.

While the FBI may have bowed out for the time being, Meek's legal team battles on. In the court filing submitted by his lawyers Monday, they argue that Brinkley's mere knowledge of the 2016 FBI investigation should be grounds for her to recuse herself from Meek's case.

"The existence of a federal investigation involving Judge Brinkley’s conduct regarding Mr. Williams, combined with Judge Brinkley’s awareness of that investigation, raises further doubt as to her ability to preside impartially,” their motion said. Meek Mill remains behind bars, serving out the two-to-four year sentence imposed by Brinkley for violating his probation stemming from a 2008 drug and gun case.
