Mayweather: De La Hoya's Gonna F*** Around and Make Me Beat His A** Again

RadioOnFire.com - Floyd Mayweather Jr. went in on Oscar De La Hoya again on Thursday (Dec. 7) During a live chat that got circulated around the internet, the recently retired boxing legend shared a little advice for talent coming into the sport as it pertains to guys like De La Hoya in the business. "Don't ever let no fighter like Oscar De La Hoya be your promoter," he said.

Fans will recall the Mayweather vs. De La Hoya feud reigniting earlier this year, when the Golden Boy promoter criticized Mayweather for granting a UFC fighter with no professional boxing experience the opportunity to compete against him for his 50th fight.

Mayweather won their 2007 figh by a split decision in 12 close-fought rounds, capturing the World Boxing Council (WBC) title. Judges Jerry Roth (115–113) and Chuck Giampa (116–112) scored the fight for Mayweather while judge Tom Kaczmarek had De La Hoya winning, 115–113.

The former Mexican champion called the lucrative bout a "farce" albeit he at one point posed the alternative of having McGregor take on the top fighter in his company, Canelo Alvarez. Last month De La Hoya once again seemed to flip on the topic of cross-sport events between boxers and MMA fighters when he began suggesting that he'd take McGregor on and defeat him within two rounds.

In a recording posted to social media from China only days ago, Mayweather called De La Hoya "a hypocrite" for turning around and entertaining the idea of a fight against McGregor after he protested the idea when it didn't involve him.

On Thursday, The Money Team boss couldn't help but remind his rival of the outcome of their 2007 match, while asserting his confidence that the result would be the same today. "You know, I already beat his a** once," Mayweather said. He's gonna f**k around and make me beat his a** again."
