Matt Lauer's Wife Leaves Home After "Today" Show Firing

RadioOnFire.com - Matt Lauer's wife, Annette Roque has reportedly left their New York home and returned to her home country in the Netherlands just days after NBC News fired the longtime TV host for "inappropriate sexual behavior."

Roque, a former model, was last seen at their home on Wednesday, just hours after the "Today" show hosts announced Lauer's firing. A source also told Page Six that days later, Roque caught a flight out to the Netherlands to be with friends and family. It is believed that her mother lives near Amsterdam.

“Annette has taken their two younger kids out of school and is believed to have left the US and gone to her family in her native country," a Hamptons source told the publication. The couple has three children, Romy, 14, son Thijs, 11, and their oldest son Jack. It's unclear if the kids are with Roque or remained with Lauer.

Roque has remained quiet about the sex scandal surrounding her husband, but the couple's 20-year marriage has been on the rocks since 2006 when she filed for divorce. Roque claimed she suffered "cruel and inhumane" treatment from Lauer, saying in legal documents he was controlling and demonstrated "extreme anger and hostility." She later withdrew the divorce filing a month later. Lauer reportedly offered Roque $5 million to stay in the marriage to protect his reputation.

“Matt needed to stay in the marriage to keep his reputation as American’s nicest dad, a source told Page Six. “He is, in fact, a great, and very doting dad to his kids, but he is also a terrible husband.” It was reported, however, that Lauer regularly cheated on his wife," and that "everyone knew."
