Rupert Murdoch is Reportedly Attempting to Acquire CNN

RadioOnFire.com - Some may not be familiar with the name Rupert Murdoch, but he is the chairman of 21st Century Fox and is the mastermind behind right-wing news outlets such as Fox News and the New York Post. Reports have surfaced that Murdoch may be interested in acquiring CNN from AT&T who is currently in the midst of completing a huge $84.4 billion merger with Time Warner who houses CNN. However, the Justice Department has suggested that AT&T give up CNN in order for the merger to receive approval. Many within AT&T, Time Warner, and CNN thought that this was a political bullying tactic from Donald Trump who notoriously accuses CNN of being "fake news" but many have abandoned that theory for the more plausible one that Rupert Murdoch is behind the delay.

Back in 2014, Murdoch attempted to acquire CNN through an $80 billion offer that was subsequently rejected. Fast forward to Friday, new reports have surfaced that Murdoch actively pursued a deal with AT&T CEO Randall Stephenson offering to buy the news outlet on two occasions.

Murdoch's representatives have called these claims of inquiring about CNN false and "laughable" there are executives within the media industry that claim Murdoch stated he'd "work behind the scenes to stop it."
