13-Year-Old Girl Killed In Middle River Shooting

RadioOnFire.com - A 13-year-old girl was shot and killed Monday night in Middle River.
She's since been identified as 13-year-old Iyanna Watkins.
The shooting happened on the 700 block of Peterson Road, police said. A group was gathered behind a 7-Eleven there when at least one person shot at them from the alley. The girl was shot multiple times in her upper and lower body and died "almost instantly at the scene," Peach said.
Police spokeswoman Officer Jennifer Peach said it's believed the shooting was targeted, though it's not known if the group or a specific person was the target.
Two men were shot in the lower body at least once. One was found nearby in the 500 block of Compass Road and taken to an area hospital with minor injuries. The other was taken to the hospital by a family member.
It's not yet clear if there is surveillance footage of the shooting, but Peach said bystanders told officers there may have been an altercation involving the same group earlier in the evening, so police are looking at surveillance footage from nearby establishments.
