RadioOnFire.com - Wednesday [September 14], a Columbus, Ohio police officer fatally shot an African-American 13-year-old boy carrying a BB gun. Tyree King was shot several times outside his home by the nine-year vet, Officer Bryan Mason, who has since been placed on leave. According to Chief Kim Jacobs, the grade-schooler was carrying a BB Gun that replicated an actual handgun that local police carry.
Authorities said the incident happened when they reported to an apparent robbery on a group of by one male with a gun. When officers arrived on the scene and approached three men, who fit the description, the two dispersed on foot.
According to a police statement obtained by USAToday, "Officers followed the males to the alley...and attempted to take them into custody when one suspect pulled a gun from his waistband. One officer shot and struck the suspect multiple times."
