RadioOnFire.com - George Zimmerman was assaulted in a restaurant in Sanford, Florida over the weekend, by a customer who took offense to him allegedly bragging about the killing of Trayvon Martin. Despite him having been the victim in the violent exchange, according to a Seminole County Sheriff's Office report, witnesses who overheard the conversation before the confrontation corroborated that Zimmerman had indeed presented himself as "that guy who killed Trayvon Martin," and even showed his I.D. card, after introducing himself.
"He recognized me. He told me he was going to kill me, he told me he'd f***ing shoot me, and he punched me in the face,” Zimmerman told the 911 dispatchers. Contrary to witness reports Zimmerman claims to have been defending his innocence when he was approached, and that he was responding to an inquiry into whether he was George Zimmerman. "He said he's going to kill me. You need to send like three or four cops,” he followed.
The incident occurred on Sunday at the Gators Riverside Grille. Zimmerman had reportedly gotten into a conversation with a customer about his tattoo, when he was overheard discussing the controversial 2012 "Stand Your Ground," killing. “You're bragging about that?” the unidentified assailant asked upon stepping up to Martin's killer. It was the second time in two years that he has become the target of violence, although it is the first attack that is reported to be directly related to his involvement in the Trayvon Martin case. Zimmerman was shot at by a man named Matthew Apperson during a road rage incident in May of 2015. Zimmerman last made the news when he auctioned off the gun used in the murder of Martin, which he advertised as "an American firearm icon" for $250,000.
