Bodycam Footage of Chicago Police Killing 18 Year Old Paul O'Neal

RadioOnFire.com - The Chicago Police Department is anticipating a wrath of "civil unrest" following the release of footage that shows a police chase that transitions from vehicle to foot, and ends with the shooting death of an unarmed Black teen. The recordings consist of dash-cam video from a police cruiser that cut 18-year-old Paul O'Neal off as he attempted to get away in a stolen Jaguar on July 28, and body-cam clips from the officers who trailed him before he was gunned down in the yard of a South Side residence.
The Independent Police Review Authority released up to nine recordings of the incident, including one which shows an officer firing at the moving vehicle, which is prohibited under the law, along with a video of officers apprehending O'Neal as he lie face down and immobile on the floor - one of whom proceeds to push his head down into the pavement. It is the first time law enforcement is making such documentation available since a recent law requiring that the department make all relative data related to police shootings available to the public within 60 days, came into effect in the city. An investigation is ongoing, with the head of Chicago's police oversight board calling the video "shocking and disturbing," and three officers having been stripped of their badges for having violated department protocol.

"Watching that video, I feel like that was a tear right down the middle of the relationship between the community and police," said community activist Jedidiah Brown as he supported the O'Neal family through their viewing of the controversial footage. "I saw an officer stomp a lifeless body in the back with his foot, while other officers stood over his body and screamed at him to put his hands behind his back. You could tell, watching these videos, that the narrative to cover this up had already begun before anything happened. You could hear officers telling other officers to cut off their body cameras."
