10-Year-Old Cub Scout Kneels During Pledge of Allegiance

RadioOnFire.com - 10-year-old Liam Holmes took a knee during the pledge of allegiance at a Durham, NC city council meeting and cited his act as a sign of solidarity with those fighting against racial discrimination. “What I did was took a knee against racial discrimination, which is basically when people are mean to other people of different colors,” Liam told news reporters. His father, Scott Holmes, said they discussed it prior to the meeting but he hadn't believed Liam would go through with it.

The city's mayor praised the young boy for his conscientiousness, saying: “To the scout that expressed his conscience by kneeling, we will say we endorse and appreciate all expressions of conscience in Durham City Council." Liam's Cub Scouts "Pack leader" declined to comment on the matter telling reporters, “The Pack doesn’t have any comment. This is a matter for the young man and his father."
