Waffle House Offers to Pay Funeral Expenses of Shooting Victims

RadioOnFire.com - Waffle House CEO Walt Ehmer was in Tennessee on Monday, April 23, to meet with family members related to each of the four victims who were slain by gunman, Travis Reinking, at one of the restaurant chain's Nashville locations over the weekend. Ehmer reportedly convened with the grieving parties to impart his condolences and to offer to cover the funeral expenses of those who might be overburdened by the expense.

Seven people wound up getting wounded after a naked Reinking, 29, walked into the Murfreesboro Pike establishment armed with an AR-15, and began shooting. Injured in the attack was AT&T technician James Shaw Jr., who intervened to wrestle the gun away from the deranged killer. Thanks to his heroism, an untold number of lives were spared during the early morning spat of violence. Unfortunately, 29-year-old, Taurean C. Sanderlin, 20-year-old Joe R. Perez, 23-year-old Akila Dasilva, and 21-year-old DeEbony Groves were not so lucky.

Director of PR and External Affairs for Waffle House, Pat Warner, confirmed the news about the company's willingness to cover Sanderlin, Perez, Dasilva, and Groves' funerals, on Tuesday, stating "We pledged our support to them in any way we can help."

Two victims who were hit in the shooting remain under hospital care at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. They are reportedly in stable condition and expected to survive.
