RadioOnFire.com - Baltimore police said a gunfight ended with police following a group of people who drove themselves to Johns Hopkins hospital.
At approximately 2:15 p.m. on Tuesday, officers saw two groups of people involved in a shooting, Baltimore police spokesman T.J. Smith said.
"We are in the areas that we think some things might happen. Some bad guys are bolder than others and they do it knowing officers are right there, right around the corner," Smith said.
After the incident, police followed one of the group's dark-colored Chevy Tahoe, which drove to the Wolfe Street entrance to Johns Hopkins hospital, thinking it was the entrance to the emergency room, but it's not, Smith said.
Officials said one person inside the SUV had been shot. Two others were also inside the SUV and were taken into custody, Smith said. The shooting victim is undergoing medical treatment for non-life-threatening injuries, officials said.
Dozens of law enforcement officers surrounded parts of the neighborhood searching for
other people who may have involved in the shooting.
No officer weapons were discharged in the incident, police said.
Neighbors who live on Aiken Street said they are concerned about the disturbing violent trend.
"Remember when we had the riots, like all the people had on the green armor and the shields and stuff -- they were all dressed up like that. There was a huge police truck out here. It was like a moving police station. It was a lot going on. It scared me, so we had to stay in," said Arieana Handy, who lives on Aiken Street.
Handy said officers told her to go back inside for her safety.
"It's too much. It really makes me afraid, because I live around here and I think this is a good neighborhood despite isolated incidents," Handy said.
Police said they are actively investigating the situation.
