Woman Fakes Her Own Kidnapping on Social Media, Gets Arrested

RadioOnFire.com - A Butler County, Pennsylvania woman faked her own kidnapping and posted a video and pictures of herself being gagged with underwear on the internet.

The woman, Thelma Williams, has a daughter Lorin who recognized that the pictures being posted were actually taken in her own house. “It scared me bad. I just thought what if something happens to my mom,” said Lorin to WLWT News. She also said she was asked by police if she thought her mom would make this up for attention and she replied by telling them that she thinks Williams needs serious help.

Local authorities pursued the woman after a friend of hers called from Florida letting them know about the pictures. She also claimed Williams Facebook was hacked and featured images of her being gagged. Williams later admitted that she made it up for attention.

“This is one of the most bizarre cases that we’ve had in quite some time,” said Butler County Sheriff Richard Jones. Williams is being charged with making a false alarm, but her daughter thinks that is unfair and believes her mother should be looked at as someone who is mentally unstable. The incident reportedly cost the authorities thousands of dollars.
