Fox Will No Longer Air National Anthem Ceremonies During NFL Games

RadioOnFire.com - In a move that the network claims has to do with the way "the commercial format works and the timing" of pregame ceremonies, Fox Sports has announced that it will not be airing live coverage of the national anthem on Sundays.

Fox has released a statement in the wee hours of Sunday morning, October 1, to inform fans that both the Star Spangled Banner and the U.K.'s God Save the Queen would be televised before the early game in London (9:30 a.m.). The network noted that none of the regional games going on throughout the United States would be given exception to the procedure. The network did, however, promise that it would document footage from the ceremony that it will selectively incorporate into the telecast after honoring the pregame time it has promised to sponsors.

Over 250 players were moved to demonstrate in some form or fashion, following President Trump's call for owners to fire players who take a knee last week. Coaches, staff, and executives were also sighted among those participating in the backlash. However, in the days that followed the historic date, blowback from fans who are not in agreement with the league allowing protests, proved bigger than the displays of unity exercised by various teams. It is reported that while ratings did go up for the pre-game telecast, viewership dipped for the actual games.
