Officer Grabs, Chokes, Knocks Student's Teeth Out in School

RadioOnFire.com - Video of a police officer roughing a student up at a Pittsburgh high school has surfaced to contradict some of the charges he was brought up on. One month ago [April 3], 14-year-old Que’Chawn Wade was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, terroristic threats, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct. What the officer appears to have failed to realize the moment he approached Wade, however, is that the Woodland Hills High School office he located him at on that day had video surveillance.
In the video, Wade is seen sitting unassumingly, with a book on his lap, when officer Steve Shaulis appears, grabs him up by the wrist and shoulder, then proceeds to put him in a choke hold before hauling him away. The attorney helping Wade fight the charges [Todd Hollis] gives detail as to what happened during the moments Shaulis disappears with Wade and has him alone in a room where there is no camera recording. “In the office he slams the kid to the ground, punches him, and knocks his tooth out,” Hollis told the New York Daily News. The officer is also believed to have used a taser on Wade. Photos of Wade prior to and after having surgery done on his mouth show the extent of the damage done to his gums and teeth.
Shaulis had reportedly been after Wade after another student accused him of stealing their cellphone. Wade denies having taken part in any theft. He will get to defend himself against all charges when he attends a juvenile hearing on July 12.
Meanwhile, Woodland Hills is under scrutiny over the incident, as it is only the most recent in a history of instances of abuse staff and law enforcement are believed to have carried out at the school. In fact, Shaulis himself was guilty of collaborating with principal Kevin Murray in the tasering and beating a student in 2015. Surveillance footage showed the student being manhandled in a nearly identical fashion to Wade. He was grabbed out of his seat, placed in a choke, and dragged to the hallway where Murray was awaiting.
Principal Murray would be ordered to observe a 30-day administrative leave following another incident in 2016, in which he was busted badgering a student for charging a phone on school property, during off hours. “I’m going to f***ing punch you in the face. Man-to-man, bro. I don’t care if you are f***ing 14-years-old or not. I will punch you in your face, and when we go down to court, it’s your word against mine, and mine wins every time,” an audio recording of the incident captured him saying. After submitting to the punishment, Murray was reinstated.
