6 Shot in Chicago During Vigil For Gunshot Victim

RadioOnFire.com - The violence in Chicago continues. While attending a vigil for Jamayah Fields last night (January 25th), 6 people were shot. Fields was killed on January 24th outside of an elementary school; another victim of Chiraq gun violence that is seemingly neverending.
Mourners were gathered outside Chicago's Chatham neighborhood celebrating the life of Fields when around 8:15 pm a car approached and shots were fired from the inside of the vehicle. The shooter then parked the car, exited the vehicle and continued to let shots off near the area where the mourners were gathered. Six people were hit, including a 12-year-old girl who was shot in the head and a 16-year-old boy who was shot in the neck.
Investigators believe the violence is connected to another shooting earlier this month. When word got out that those involved would be at the memorial, the shooters fired into the crowd as a form of retaliation. The six were among 13 people shot in Chicago over 15 hours Wednesday bringing the total number of shootings to 264, with 46 total homicides since the beginning of January.
This violence comes in wake of Trump's comments regarding the unprecedented violence in Chiraq.
