However, some voters were eager to make sure their selection for president goes through, especially one woman in Iowa who was arrested on suspicion of voting twice. 55-year-old Terri Rote was arrested and booked this past Thursday for first-degree election misconduct. According to police reports, the woman cast two ballots: one at a county satellite voting location, and another through an early voting ballot.
When asked for a statement by The Washington Post, Rote said it was a "spur-of-the-moment thing. I don't what came over me." Rote posted $5,000 bail on Friday and has a scheduled hearing for November 7. Under Iowa state law, first-degree election misconduct is a Class D felony.
