Spotify Will Reportedly Add XXXTentacion's Music Back to Playlists

RadioOnFire.com - Spotify is backpedaling on some of its new “hate content and hateful conduct” policies. The rule came into effect last month, and two artists that were immediately affected by the rule were R. Kelly and XXXTentacion. Spotify cited the artists' current sexual misconduct and assault charges as the reason for singling out Kelly and X. While Spotify did not take their music off the streaming site entirely, they removed their music from all official playlists. The move caused X's records to lose streams, but strangely R. Kelly's average streams increased. Fans and peers of the artists reached out to Spotify in large numbers, and now it's being reported that XXXTentacion's music will be added back to the playlists.

According to Bloomberg, Spotify told artists, managers, and record-label executives that they will ultimately restore all the songs by XXXTentacion to their playlists. A specific time frame has not been announced. Spotify's top executives are speaking with music industry and civil-rights activists about better ways to implement the new rule that is fair for everyone. Going by the guideline that they removed X by, several other artists would need to be removed as well.

Spotify has no plans on adding R. Kelly's music back onto their playlists.
