RadioOnFire.com - It appeared on Tuesday (May 8) that R. Kelly received the lifeline he must have been hoping for amid a new push for his record label, RCA, to drop him, and for venues who've scheduled appearances from the R&B star to cancel his shows. That vote of confidence came in the form of a video that has surfaced of Kelly and alleged 'hostage' Joycelyn Savage out in public together.
For over a year, Kelly has faced questions over the nature of his relationship with Savage, due in part because of a very public investigation headed by her family, who claim she's in a sex cult. Fans may recall TMZ getting an exclusive interview with Savage last July. During her chat with the celebrity news outlet, Savage dispelled the notion that she was being held against her will, and she wrote off her family's attempts to go after Kelly as an embarrassing measure of attention seeking.
Still, many have straddled the fence on whether or not to believe Savage, considering a wave of reports from women who continue to come out and accuse the crooner of assimilating them into a system of isolating and abusive protocols once they move in with him. Most recently, the Washington Post covered the accounts of two new women and four other women who've long had gripes against Kelly. The article details how Kelly controls everything from when the women can leave any room they might be designated to, to what kind of communication they could have with the outside world.
The recording released on Tuesday was reportedly shot on April 28. It shows Savage and Kelly doing some shopping in a Nordstrom store and showing one another affection as they seemingly stroll about liberally.
