RadioOnFire.com - This past weekend, one of the main airports in Saudi Arabia was targeted by a ballistic missile reportedly fired from Yemen. The missile came from the Houthi rebels in Yemen, who is currently at war with Riyadh kingdom in Saudi Arabia. Despite the airport being targeted and a missile being fired at it, forces were able to shoot down the missile.
According to reports, the missile traveled over 500 miles before it was intercepted. No damage was caused to King Khaled International Airport.
Since then, Saudi Arabia’s press agency has said that the debris from the intercepted missile showed that it was created in Iran and brought into Yemen for the rebels. The press agency went on to say the attempted attack was “a blatant act of military aggression by the Iranian regime and could rise to be considered an act of war.”
They also said that Saudi Arabia can “respond to Iran in the appropriate time and manner, in accordance with the international law and based on the right of self-defense.” In case you were wondering if a war was brewing, Saudi Arabia Foreign Minister Adel bin Ahmed al-Jubeir told CNN “We see this as an act of war. Iran cannot lob missiles at Saudi cities and towns and expect us not to take steps.”
News of the attempted attack and Saudi Arabia’s response comes only one day after a massive anti-corruption probe took place in the nation.
