Fresh Prince of Bel-Air Creator Benny Medina Accused of Attempted Gay Rape

RadioOnFire.com - Benny Medina is the CEO of The Medina Company, and he has long worked in the music business garnering some titles from record executive, producer, and talent manager. He's most notably known for managing the career of Jennifer Lopez. He also executive producer the hit 90s show The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air starring Will Smith -- the show is loosely based on Medina's upbringing.

Most recently, Medina has been accused of attempting to rape actor Jason Dottley (Sordid Lives: The Series). Dottley claimed that in December of 2008 Medina tried to rape him at his L.A. home, as published by the Advocate on Friday (Nov. 10). The actor alleged that Medina invited he and actor T. Ashanti Mozelle for a tour of his home, within which time Medina guided Dottley to a bedroom where he tried to attack him. Mozelle, corroborates Dottley's accusations, as he told the publication that he walked in on the presumed assault after going for a swim in the pool.

“[Mozelle] burst in the room and [was] screaming something like, ‘Get off him!'” Dottley told the publication. “Benny Medina got off of me and grabbed me again by the chest of my shirt and threw me at — not to, but at — his bedroom door and all he said was ‘You two get the f— out of here.'

Dottley said after feeling powerless, he decided to come forward in the wake of other actors like Anthony Rapp opening up about his sexual assault. “[His] story gave me the biggest push because I related to him as a gay man, being preyed on by another gay man,” Dottley says. “So as the count grew, so did my confidence. I wrote my #MeToo story with no names in direct response to Anthony Rapp coming forward.”

Dottley was rendered powerless because not only did Median allegedly try to attack him; he also went as far as to threaten his then-husband. “You don’t try to rape someone, then threaten to kill their husband via text message if you aren’t incredibly fearless of what you’re doing,” Dottley says. “This could not have been his first time.”

Since the allegations have surfaced, Medina's attorneys said in a statement, “Benny Medina categorically denies the allegation of attempted rape.”
