RadioOnFire.com - Hundreds of police officers were dispensed to the site of a pro-Trump rally in Berkeley, CA that turned violent on Saturday, April 15, after scores of black-clad anti-fascists showed up and confrontations broke out, leading to arrests in the double digits.
While some around the nation marched for Donald Trump to release his tax records, on what is typically the final day to file taxes in the U.S. [albeit this year the date has been pushed back to April 18], in Berkeley dozens congregated in favor of the President, at a demonstration dubbed "Patriots Day." But those in attendance at Patriots Day [organized by Liberty Revival Alliance] would soon learn that they weren't going to be alone, as a coordinated group of counter-protesters eventually began to flood in, leading to tensions that around 250 law enforcement personnel would be called upon to deal with.
Scenes of the opposing crowds tossing objects at one another and slinging a dumpster around as they traveled each other around the perimeter of Martin Luther King Jr. Civic Center Park was aired by major media outlets, which reported that 11 people were injured, including a stabbing victim and five others who were rushed to a local hospital. Knives, sticks, stun guns, pepper spray and poles were among the objects reported to have been confiscated from both crowds. Twenty-one arrests were made.
Footage of the unrest is not unlike what the city of Berkeley experienced last month, when 10 were arrested and 7 injured at a pro-Trump rally in the town, or when fires were set and property on the University of California was destroyed by anarchists protesting an appearance by former alt-right provocateur Milo Yiannopoulos. There were plenty of alt-right citizens on hand during Saturday's confrontations, with blogger Lauren Southern rallying scores of supporters to "become like them: subversive."
