More Than 3,000 Shootings This Year In Chicago


RadioOnFire.com - In recent years, Chicago has unfortunately become associated with an extreme amount of gun violence. Now, it has been reported that more than 3,000 people in Chicago have been shot. The Chicago Tribune reported that in this past weekend, eight people were killed while 35 were wounded. Because of these incidents, this marked a dark milestone for the city as 3,028 people have been shot since the beginning of the year. According to the Tribune, the most people shot in Chicago came from the Harrison police district with 423 shot. The worst violence stemmed from the Englewood police district, which had 324 people shot in the vicinity since the beginning of the year.

Despite the overall rise, a few districts saw a drop in the amount of shootings compared to last year. Jefferson Park went from 14 to 12 while Rogers Park went from 37 to 34.
