RadioOnFire.com - D.L. Hughley took aim at critics of Colin Kaepernick's protest against the oppression of Black Americans by law enforcement, on Monday [September 19]. While the caption of a video clip he posted and hashtagged, #ItsTooMuch, addresses all Americans, the comedian calls out several particular athletes and entertainers who've blastedKaepernick for kneeling during the playing of the national anthem, while remaining silent when a Black life is taken by police gunfire.
"I wish all the people from Jerry Rice, to Jason Whitlock, to Ray Lewis, to Rodney Harrison, who were so upset about Colin Kaepernick not standing up. I wish all of them were just as upset about Terence Crutcher getting shot down, as they are about Colin Kaepernick not standing up," Hughley said. "I wish they were just as upset about that. Because, as I recall, that's how this whole s**t started."
Hughley's reproach comes after the Tulsa Police Department released video of 40-year-old Terence Crutcher being gunned down in the middle of the road while walking away from an officer with his hands raised. The incident, which occurred on Friday, has begun to spark national outrage, as the U.S. Department of Justice moves forward with an investigation into possible civil rights violations. Back in July Hughley made headlines after going head to head on the issue of police violence with Fox News host Megyn Kelly. "I don't know a black man that hasn't had a run-in with police, from the highest to the lowest," viewers will recall him telling Kelly. "My perspective on this is based on the experience I've had, just as yours are, so I am not willing to give them the benefit of the doubt."
