RadioOnFire.com - Donald Trump didn't fail the expectations of voters who've come to anticipate the likelihood that an offensive comment will leave his lips at any one of his campaign stops. While stumping in Michigan on Friday [August 19], he told African-Americans that in Voting for him, they'd literally have nothing to lose.
“What do you have to lose by trying something new, like Trump?” he said. “What do you have to lose? You’re living in poverty. Your schools are no good. You have no jobs. 58 percent of your youth is unemployed. What the hell do you have to lose?” Trump told the crowd at a rally in Dimondale, a town that is 93% white.
To say that Trump is losing the black vote in a romp, would be an understatement. With a recent NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll estimating blacks who favor the republican nominee, to have stalled at 1%, it wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that his African-American base is virtually non-existent. Thus, it is the second time in a week that the business magnate has attempted to solicit support from the African-American community, with him coupling up with Milwaukee Sheriff David Clarke to ask for the black vote during a visit to Wisconsin on Tuesday.
Trump has proven to have trouble connecting with black voters, with those who've come forward to declare their support for his presidency finding themselves alienated from the greater African-American community. Back in June, he created a stir when he singled a black man out during one of his rallies and referred to him as "my African-American."
