RadioOnFire.com - Baltimore County police have filed gun and drug charges against the boyfriend of a Randallstown woman who was fatally shot by police after brandishing a gun and threatening to kill an officer after police tried to serve arrest warrants at her apartment.
Officers shot and killed 23-year-old Korryn Gaines after she barricaded herself inside her apartment Monday with a 5-year-old boy and pointed a shotgun at officers.
Gaines was wanted for failing to appear in court on charges relating to a March traffic stop.
Thirty-nine-year-old Kareem Courtney, who lived in the apartment with Gaines and was present when police arrived, was charged Friday with nine criminal counts, including possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. According to online court records, he faces a preliminary hearing on Sept. 2.
County police said homicide detectives found heroin while the apartment where the standoff took place. Police said they found three bags containing 75 capsules of an off-white substance that was later determined through forensic examination to be heroin. Those bags were found in the kitchen. The heroin totaled 26.7 grams.
