Staff member Shot At Frederick Douglass High School

RadioOnFire.com - A Frederick Douglass High School staff member was shot Friday afternoon by an adult visitor to the Baltimore school.

Baltimore City police said the shooting was reported shortly after noon. City police said a 25-year-old man got inside the front door of the school, was confronted by a 56-year-old staff member, who was shot. The staff member is in serious but stable condition, and the suspected shooter is in custody.

WBAL-TV 11 News I-Team lead investigative reporter Jayne Miller reported that an ambulance left the school with a school police officer following.

The victim is an adult hall monitor and in serious but stable condition at an area hospital, school police Chief Akil L. Hamm said.

Hamm said his officers were nearby in the main office, and were able to engage and apprehend the suspect without incident.

Gov. Larry Hogan tweeted that state officials are "closely monitoring the situation."
