Clippers Agree to Trade Tobias Harris to 76ers in Deal That Involves 6 Players
RadioOnFire.com - There's a new blockbuster deal in the NBA, one that involves the other team in LA that doesn't involve LeBron James' open recruitment of Anthony Davis. Instead, it's the Clippers that have agreed to deal one of their signature players in Tobias Harris to the Philadelphia 76ers, in exchange for multiple players and future draft picks. The trade in full sends Harris, Boban Marjanovic, and Mike Scott to the 76ers, while the Clippers will receive Wilson Chandler, Landry Shamet, and Mike Muscala, in addition to their 2020 first-round pick and a 2021 unprotected 1st rd pick via Miami. Additionally, Philadelphia also traded their second-round picks in 2021 and 2023.
The Clippers reportedly made the move to free up space for potential free agents, including the aforementioned Davis who is one of the players they're interested in. Meanwhile, it's the second significant move of the season for Philly's first-year GM, Elton Brand, who made a blockbuster deal for Jimmy Butler back in November.
As for Harris, he is currently having his best NBA season, averaging 20.7 points on 49 percent shooting from the field and 42 percent from the 3-point line. The Clippers had considered Harris to be deserving of close to max-level player in the marketplace, thus by making the deal, they've now opened their cap space for the ability to land two maximum-contract players in the offseason.
