The Lakers Without LeBron James Lose to the Last Place Cavaliers

RadioOnFire.com - Last night (Jan 13) the Los Angeles Lakers were once again playing without LeBron James, and without their star player they suffered one of their worst losses of the season. Hosting LeBron's old team in the Staples Center, the Lakers were outplayed by the Cleveland Cavaliers from the start, and now head coach Luke Walton is considering making some changes to the starting lineup.

"We might have to do something in the starting lineup right now," Walton said in the post-game press conference, "because every game it feels like we're giving up 30+ points in the first quarter" Sure enough, it was the fifth time in the past six games that they allowed at least 30 points in the opening period.

The Cavs came into the game with the NBA's worst record at 8-35 having lost their last 12 consecutive games, and were shorthanded playing without Kevin Love, Larry Nance Jr., John Henson, and JR Smith who left the team in November.

The Lakers have now gone 3-7 without James in the lineup, and last night went 7 for 34 on 3-pointers, 16 for 27 from the free throw line, and only had 11 fast-break points.

What changes will come to the line-up are unknown, though last night Kyle Kuzma led the way with 29 points and nine rebounds, while Brandon Ingram scored 22 and Lonzo Ball added 13 points, eight rebounds and eight assists.

Ultimately it wasn't enough, however, as the Lakers have now lost five of their last seven and are barely holding on to the 8th playoff spot in the West. Meanwhile, the Lakers have maintained that they will be patient with James return.
