RadioOnFire.com - As Surviving R Kelly continues to take the world by storm, as expected social media has gone into full overdrive with millions of viewers giving their two cents on the controversy. One of the many storylines that have spawned from the docuseries, however, was the inclusion of radio host Charlamagne, considering his own alleged criminal history involving sex crimes against women. Furthermore, older tweets have been uncovered that show Charlamagne joking about the accusations against Kelly, even going as far as to proclaim the infamous pee-incident "the greatest celebrity sex tape of all time."
For that reason, producer Dream Hampton has publicly apologized for including Charlamagne in the docuseries, taking to Twitter to explain her reasoning before ultimately conceding that she made a mistake.
"I’m just seeing Charlamagne’s 2010 tweet tonight," Hampton said in the tweet, "I interviewed him before the story abt him broke but should have cut him altogether, rather than limit his appearance. It was a huge mistake. I prob spent more time arguing to cut Bruce. Again, mistake. #SurvivingRKelly"
Hampton was then corrected by a viewer who clarified that there were actually multiple tweets in question, to which the producer once more reiterated that she had no knowledge of Charlamagne's prior takes until they were brought to her attention. Instead, Hampton had considered Charlamagne to be a vocal critic of Kelly, though upon viewing the tweets she now believes he should have never been included in the documentary.
