RadioOnFire.com - New York City went the entire weekend with no shootings for the first time since 1993.
NYPD Chief of Department Terence Monahan spoke in light of the news, tell the New York Post, "I really don’t remember a weekend that no one was shot in the entire city. It’s a different city."
Mayor de Blasio also commented, stating, "I have to tell you, this is a winning team for sure. And to give you some evidence, about as recent as it can get, this last weekend — Friday, Saturday and Sunday — there was not a single shooting in all of New York City. Isn’t that amazing?"
While the weekend was clear of violence, the streak ended on Monday (October 15) when a man was shot in the Bronx around 1:15 pm. The victim was revealed to be a 27-year-old man who was shot in the ankle and expected to survive.
