RadioOnFire.com - Lil Wayne celebrated the release of his long-delayed, highly anticipated new album, “Tha Carter V,” at a party stocked with weed, candy, skate ramps, live goats and Stevie Wonder.
The album — which has been six years in the making — has been entangled in a tumultuous lawsuit between Wayne and his label, Cash Money Records, for nearly four years.
Wayne settled the lawsuit in June, and released “Tha Carter V” on Friday to much fanfare — and praise from hip-hop’s finest, including Kanye West. Wayne celebrated the release — as well as his 36th birthday — on Thursday night with a “Wayne’s World”-themed party at Hubble Studio in LA.
We’re told Trap Kitchen catered traditional New Orleans food and candy, plus there was a marijuana bar and skateboarders on ramps.
“He’s a Smashing Pumpkins fan and he wanted Billy Corgan to perform, but [Billy] turned it down because he doesn’t really do private parties,” an insider said.
Pals including Wonder, Chris Brown, Big Sean, Wiz Khalifa, Timbaland, Shaggy and Tiffany Haddish popped in, and Ray J gifted Wayne a personalized scooter.
“We were welcomed to the venue with a skate ramp and Young Money skaters performing tricks, while two live goats ushered us into the main party,” a guest told us.
We’re further told DJ T. Lewis spun tunes all night and then the crowd all counted down to “Tha Carter V” release.
Meanwhile, as Wayne partied, West announced that he would be dropping a new album on Saturday, but conceded of his record, “We know it will come in number 2 to my brother Lil Wayne and that’s lovely.”
