July 4th Road Closures In Baltimore And Annapolis



Downtown Baltimore July 4th Celebration:
There will be street and lane closures, commercial vehicle and parking restrictions in place in downtown Baltimore for the annual Fourth of July celebration.
The following streets will be CLOSED on Wednesday, July 4th from 8:30 p.m. until early morning, Thursday, July 5th:
- Conway Street EASTBOUND CLOSED EAST of I-395/Howard Street. I-395 NORTHBOUND traffic must stay on Howard Street
- Pratt Street CLOSED at Charles Street. Pratt Street must turn LEFT (NORTH) on Charles Street then RIGHT (EAST) on Baltimore Street
- Lombard Street CLOSED at President Street. Lombard Street traffic must turn RIGHT (NORTH) on President Street then LEFT (WEST) on Fayette Street
- SOUTHBOUND Light Street CLOSED at Lombard Street. Light Street must turn RIGHT (EAST) on Lombard Street the LEFT (SOUTH) on Sharp Street.
- NORTHBOUND Light Street CLOSED at Lee Street. Light Street traffic must turn LEFT (WEST) on Lee Street then RIGHT (NORTH) on Charles Street.
The following lane closures will be in place on July 4th from 3 pm until early morning on July 5th:
- RIGHT side of Pratt Street between Greene and Calvert Streets
- RIGHT side of Lombard Street from President to Greene Streets
- LEFT side of Charles Street from Conway to Fayette Streets
- RIGHT side of Light Street from Fayette to Conway Streets
Commercial Vehicle Restrictions
Commercial vehicle restrictions will be in effect for the following areas from 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 4th until 2 a.m. on Thursday, July 5th.
Tanker trucks will NOT be permitted into downtown, including those making local deliveries.
 Only commercial vehicles making local deliveries will be allowed downtown during this time.
The commercial vehicle restriction excludes cabs, buses and other mass transportation vehicles. 

- Fayette Street between Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard and President Street. No commercial vehicles SOUTH of Fayette Street.
- President Street between Aliceanna and Fayette Streets. No commercial vehicles WEST of President Street.
- Light Street between Pratt Street and Key Highway.
- Key Highway between Light and McComas Streets.
- Hanover Street between McComas and Montgomery Streets. No commercial vehicles NORTH of McComas Street, including on Hanover Street.
- Pratt, Lombard and Baltimore Streets between Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard and President Street.
- I-395/Howard Street from the Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard exit to Pratt Street. Commercial vehicles will not be permitted on I-395/Howard Street.
- No commercial vehicle traffic will be allowed EAST of Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard from Pratt Street to Fayette Street.
NO PARKING on the following streets on July 4th from 3 pm until 12 midnight:   
- Gay Street from Pratt to Fayette Streets 
- Calvert Street from Pratt to Fayette Streets
- Baltimore Street from Charles to Gay Streets  
- EASTBOUND/SOUTHBOUND Key Highway from Light to William Streets
Those driving to the downtown celebration should park in commercial garages and should not park in neighborhoods. Neighborhood parking restrictions will be strictly enforced.

July 4th Parade and Fireworks in Annapolis
The annual Annapolis 4th of July parade and fireworks will take place on Wednesday, July 4th.
The parade will begin at 6:30 p.m. at Amos Garrett Boulevard and head EASTBOUND along West Street, around Church Circle, and EASTBOUND on Main Street.
The fireworks show will begin at approximately 9:15 p.m.
Main Street and the Spa Creek Bridge (from Eastport to downtown) will be CLOSED beginning at 6 p.m. and remain closed until the conclusion of the fireworks, at approximately 10 p.m.  
Road Restrictions and Closures
Car traffic into the north side of the Eastport Peninsula will be restricted from 6 p.m. until 10:30 p.m.  Pedestrian traffic will be permitted.
- In Eastport, Sixth Street NORTHBOUND will be CLOSED at Severn Avenue at 6 p.m. so traffic CANNOT CROSS the Eastport Bridge toward downtown Annapolis. 
- Car traffic will be denied access to the downtown area from 5 p.m. until approximately 10:30 p.m.  The following streets will be CLOSED:
King George Street between College Avenue and the Naval Academy
Prince George Street between College Avenue and the Naval Academy
North Street between College Avenue and State Circle
- ALL of Church Circle
Main Street between Church Circle and City Dock
Conduit Street, Green Street, St, Mary’s Street and Compromise Street will be CLOSED NORTH of Duke of Gloucester Street, so that traffic CANNOT get into the downtown area.
***ONE lane of EASTBOUND Duke of Gloucester Street will remain OPEN from Church Circle to Compromise Street and into Eastport via the SPA CREEK BRIDGE (NOT into downtown Annapolis) until 9 p.m. At that time, Duke of Gloucester Street will be closed to ensure pedestrian safety and to facilitate the movement of foot traffic leaving the area after the fireworks display.
Here is a list of parking options in Annapolis:
- Hillman Garage - 150 Gorman St – (entrance on Duke of Gloucester also)
- Park Place Garage – One Park Place
- Knighton Garage – 1A Colonial Avenue
- Gotts Garage – 25 Northwest Street – (entrance on Calvert Street also)
Normal parking rates apply for these four garages.
Free parking will be available at:
- The DNR Parking Lot on Herbert M. Sachs Blvd.
- The State Parking Garage - known as the Calvert Street Garage at 19 St John’s Street
Shuttle Buses
The city will run two buses from 4 p.m. until 12 midnight from the State Parking Garage on Calvert Street to both the Maryland Department of Natural Resources Parking Lot near the intersection between Taylor Avenue and Herbert Sachs Boulevard and Lawyer's Mall in front of the State House.
This is a free service.
Two Circulators will run from Park Place (Westin Hotel) along West Street around Church Circle to Main Street, where passengers will be discharged.
The Circulators will run from 9 a.m. until 12 midnight and are free of charge.
Downtown Annapolis Parking Restrictions
From 4 p.m. until about 10:30 p.m., PARKING WILL BE PROHIBITED, and VIOLATORS MAY BE TOWED from the following areas:
City Dock
Main Street
Randall Street
Market Space
**RESIDENT ONLY PARKING** on the following streets from 2 p.m. until 12 midnight:
Prince George Street between Craig Street and Maryland Avenue
East Street between Prince George Street and King George Street
Randall Street between Prince George Street and King George Street
Eastport Parking Restrictions
**RESIDENT PARKING ONLY** on the following streets from 2 p.m. until 10:30 p.m.:
- Both sides of Severn Avenue between First and State Streets
- NORTHBOUND side First Street and the SOUTHBOUND side of Third Street between Severn and Chester Avenues
- BOTH SIDES of Third Street between Spa Creek and Severn Avenue and between Chester Avenue and Eastern Avenue
- NORTHBOUND side of Second Street between Bay Shore Avenue and Severn Avenue
- EASTBOUND Chesapeake and Chester Avenues between State Street and Riverview Avenue
Bay Ridge Avenue between Sixth and State Streets
Boating Restrictions
The draw span of the Spa Creek (Eastport) Bridge will be CLOSED to boat traffic from 8:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. 
Because of the anticipated crowded conditions, boaters are urged to seek anchorage to view the fireworks early.
Boaters are warned to avoid the 1,000-foot Safety Zone around the fireworks barge.

The consumption of alcoholic beverages on the streets and sidewalks in Annapolis is prohibited.  Alcoholic beverages are also prohibited at Susan Campbell Park. Fireworks (including sparklers) are prohibited at Susan Campbell Park along with the firing of pyrotechnics and flares.
