Shooting Reported at Newspaper in Annapolis, Maryland (Live Link Inside)


RadioOnFire.com - A shooting was reported at the Capital Gazette, a daily newspaper in Annapolis, Maryland, on Thursday, said the ATF in Baltimore. This story will be updated.





At least six people were injured in a shooting at the building in Annapolis that's home to the Capital Gazette. One suspect is in custody.

Annapolis, Anne Arundel County and state police, along with officers from neighboring jurisdictions are at the scene in the 800 block of Bestgate Road, near the Annapolis Mall.

Police confirmed the said a search of the building is ongoing, and identified a place where family could reunite with those who were evacuated from the building.

Four of those wounded suffered critical injuries. Two state police helicopters have been called the scene, and a triage has been set up, SkyTeam 11 Capt. Roy Taylor reports.

Suspicious packages were reported. SWAT officers are conducting a room-by-room search.

Maryland Routes 450 (Defense Highway) and 178 (Generals Highway) were closed in the area, according to the State Highway Administration.

The Capital Gazette is owned by The Baltimore Sun. That paper reports police were at their newsroom, as well, but that police said there was no specific threat on that paper.

Law enforcement is asking people to stay away from the scene. Residents near the scene are asked to shelter in place.
