Meek Mill's Request to Remove Judge from Case Reportedly Denied

RadioOnFire.com - It appears Meek Mill’s request to remove the judge presiding over his case will have to be decided by Philadelphia’s Supreme Court after a lower court judge ruled against the motion on Wednesday.

According to Billboard, Philadelphia Common Pleas Court Judge Leon Tucker denied the request filed by Meek’s legal team. For now, Judge Genece E. Brinkley will remain on Meek’s case. Meek’s team claimed that Brinkley has treated the rapper unjustly, citing her refusal to grant Meek a new trial despite the support of the District Attorney’s Office and Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf.

However, Judge Tucker did tell Meek's team that his decision came from the fact he doesn't have jurisdiction to make such a decision."We have a judge that wears the same robe that I wear, that has not recused herself and has not disqualified herself,” Tucker said. “I don’t have the jurisdiction to do that. It’s as simple as that.”

Meek's lawyer, Joe Tacopina, says he will file the motion with the state's Supreme Court. Judge Tucker thoughtfully considered our application to reassign this case,” Tacopina said. “While he ultimately ruled that he did not believe he had the authority to do so, we respectfully disagree and will immediately ask the Pennsylvania Supreme Court to reassign the case.”

Harvey Weinstein Indicted on Multiple Sex Charges

RadioOnFire.com - It is now crystal clear that the former film producer, Harvey Weinstein, has been indicted on charges of rape in the first and third degrees and first-degree criminal sexual act, the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office announced, Hollywood Unlocked reports.

Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. on Wednesday announced the indictment, saying it brings Weinstein "another step closer to accountability." DA Vance's statement which read: "A Grand Jury has voted to indict Harvey Weinstein on charges of Rape in the First and Third Degrees, and Criminal Sexual Act in the First Degree. This indictment brings the defendant another step closer to accountability for the crimes of violence with which he is now charged."

Weinstein’s lawyer Benjamin Brafman released a statement in response, "The Indictment merely mirrors the same charges in the criminal court Complaint and does not add anything to the case we did not already know." If found guilty, the Oscar-winning producer may spend 25 years behind bars, Deadline reports.

It was merely on Friday when Harvey Weinstein surrendered himself to the NYPD. He was arrested and charged with two accounts of rape (one involving force) and criminal sexual act in the first degree for alleged assaults against two women. The incidents occurred between 2013 and 2014. There are currently 12 pending lawsuits against Harvey Weinstein.

Brafman said that with a deadline set for Wednesday afternoon for Weinstein to testify or not, prosecutors denied his request for more time. Vance said the Weinstein camp's "recent assault on the integrity of the survivors and the legal process is predictable," Hollywood Reporter reports. Harvey Weinstein and his brother Bob Weinstein co-founded the entertainment company Miramax.

D.L. Hughley Shades Kim Kardashian About Meeting with Trump

RadioOnFire.com - D.L. Hughley had jokes about Kim Kardashian-West meeting with President Trump in the White House about unjust laws in the criminal justice system on Wednesday, May 30.

Kim drew headlines for sitting down with top advisor, Jared Kushner, and the President to discuss a possible pardoning for imprisoned 62-year-old Alice Johnson, who has been incarcerated in Alabama since 1997. Johnson's case went viral in 2017 and really began to pick up steam after the Kardashian vixen shared her story and began to advocate for her release.

Kushner has been taking the lead on prison reform as of late, thus motivating him to invite Kim to convene in hopes of convincing the Commander In Chief to set her free after 21 years behind bars. Due to the state's mandatory minimum law, Johnson is serving out a life sentence without parole, albeit she had no record of offenses leading up to her arrest in a drug conspiracy bust.

Hughley may be all for the cause, but he couldn't help but have fun with the bit of humor he found in Kim's ironic visit. "Kim Kardashian is meeting with Trump to discuss prison reform! Makes sense! Who's screwed more black dudes than her and the prison system?" a tweet he published prior to the visit read.

Spotify CEO Reportedly Regrets R. Kelly Music Ban

RadioOnFire.com - Several weeks ago Spotify instituted a "hateful conduct" policy, banning artists they deemed morally unfit from promoted playlists. R. Kelly and XXXTentacion were the first casualties of the controversial policy. The streaming company's CEO, Daniel Ek, is now reportedly saying he handled the situation poorly.

"I think we rolled this out wrong and could have done a much better job," Ek said Wednesday night.R. Kelly has consistently denied the years of sex abuse allegations levied against him. XXXTentacion was arrested in 2016 on charges including aggravated battery of a pregnant woman, but has yet to be sentenced.

The company chose to remove both of the artists' music from its playlists and from recommendation sections of the site like Discover Weekly, but not from the platform altogether. Ek said the policy left "too much ambiguity in how people interpreted this."

"It wasn't trying to be a moral police, like who didn't right and who did wrong. We don't want to be the judge and the moral police," he added.

Earlier this week Kendrick Lamar reportedly threatened to remove his music from the streaming service if they didn't reverse the decision on Xxxtentacion, and added his music back to playlists. Spotify predictably complied.

6ix9ine Celebrates 7 Months Without Getting Knocked Out Or Chain Took

RadioOnFire.com - Just a week after showing off his new plaque earned from the success of his debut project Day69, it appears that Tekashi 6ix9ine has more to celebrate. Taking to Instagram Wednesday (May 30), 6ix9ine took time to gloat that since entering the scene he has failed to take a loss.

“I been talking the most shit for the past 7 months telling the whole rap game S*D & somehow still didn’t get my chain took never got knocked out the only thing that happenwas I got handed platinum records and billboard charts.” captioned the photo of the Brooklyn rapper.

While he is celebrating avoiding direct conflict for over half a year, 6ix9ine has been involved in numerous beefs with individuals in and out of music. Earlier this month, 6ix9ine had a back-and-forth with Trippie Redd. He was reportedly arrested for assaulting an officer.

However, 6ix9ine has been making strides to be less confrontational. He and Casanova 2X squashed their beef, even performing on stage together. Even as he continues his success, 6ix9ine still wants to accomplish more. “I'm saying I'm still f***ing hungry man,”he said in a recent post celebrating the release of his video for his track “Tati”. “I got into this game a couple months ago and I'm still hungry I still want more.”

Ja Rule Compares Drake vs Pusha T to his Battle. 50 Cent Responds

RadioOnFire.com - Do rap beefs ever end! Sometimes, things can go so far, that every chance you have to jab your opponent - you will take it! That seems to be the case with 50 Cent and Ja Rule. The two rappers had a legendary music battle in the early 2000's that dimmed Ja Rule's run in the spotlight. The battle was followed by 50 Cent & G-Unit's rise to the top.

The current Pusha T and Drake feud has reminded rap fans how disrespectful a rap battle can get. As reported, Pusha T unleashed a vicious diss song aimed at Drake called "The Story of Adidon." The record answers Drake's "Duppy Freestyle", which hit the "Daytona" rapper very hard. In the song, Drake infamously mentioned  Pusha T's fiancee rapping, "Look, holla at me when you multi-million. I told you keep playing with my name and I'ma let it ring on you like Virginia Williams.I'm too resilient, get out your feelings."

However, it was Pusha-T's response that has many ranking the song as one of the most disrespectful raps of all-time. Nobody was safe from the "Mr. Me Too" rapper, he even had bars for Drake's multiple sclerosis stricken producer saying, "OVO 40, hunched over like he 80, tick, tick, tick. How much time he got? That man is sick, sick, sick."

As brutal as this battle has been, multi-platinum rapper Ja Rule thinks his battle with 50 Cent was worse. The "Livin It Up" rapper took to twitter to remind everyone of his classic battle stating, "Drake, Push ima let y'all finish but "Loose Change" was one of the most disrespectful diss records of ALL TIME..."

While Ja's "Loose Change" was rude, he did rap, "California Love is what you crave, so on your grave it's gonna read: Here lies 50, who snitched on many. That half a dollar, that nickel, them dimes, and died like a penny," on the song.

To the surprise of no one, 50 Cent responded to Ja Rule via Instagram with his normal humor, "Yo look at this. This nigga still thinkhe in it. Look at me fool, I'm the reason you waiting on a Uber you bum ass nigga. LMAO get the strap!"

Did Drake vs Pusha T's feud indirectly reignite Ja Rule vs 50 Cent?

Roseanne's Son Says His Mom Thought Valerie Jarrett Was White

RadioOnFire.com - The Barrs are relentless. Now Roseanne Barr's son, Jake Pentland, decided to defend his mother after her racist tweet earlier this week whereby President Barack Obama's former advisor Valerie Jarrett looked like she was the result of "muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes."

According to Jake Pentland, who was texting with his mother all day, Roseanne was under the impression that Valerie Jarrett was actually white, and not black. Ignorance is never a defense in law - should it even be remotely considered here, though?

"Jake says his mom would never call a black woman an ape, and that during a text conversation Roseanne referenced both Valerie and her father, exclaiming 'Her and her dad! I thought they were white!,' The Blast reports.

Jarrett's was reportedly born in Shiraz, Iran, to American parents -- James and Barbara Bowman. Her parents are both African-American. Her ancestors greatly contributed to the American history for one of her maternal great-grandfathers, Robert Robinson Taylor was the first African-American architect who graduated from MIT.

On the television series Finding Your Roots, genealogical research and DNA testing indicated that Jarrett also has French, Scottish, and Native American ancestry. As a child, Jarrett spoke Farsi, French, and English.

RadioOnFire.com - Pusha-T stirred controversy with the release of "The Story of Adidon," his response to Drake's "Duppy Freestyle" diss track. The cover art for Pusha-T's track was of Drake in blackface, which left many asking for a backstory on the photo.

Bobby Brown: "Kanye West Needs Somebody to Slap Him Up or Something,"

RadioOnFire.com - Bobby Brown called the cover of Pusha-T's new Daytona album – which depicts Whitney Houston's bathroom counter littered with drugs – "in really bad taste" during an interview with Rolling Stone on Wednesday.

The former New Edition singer and solo star was married to Houston from 1992 to 2007. He said he had recently been busy finishing work on a two-part biopic, The Bobby Brown Story, and had not seen the Daytona cover. After being told that it was a picture of Houston's bathroom reportedly licensed by Kanye West for $85,000, Brown wondered, "Why would he post that on his album cover?"

"That's really disgusting that he would do that," Brown added. "That's in really bad taste. Something should happen to Kanye. He's already crazy. I knew that when I first met him. Now he's pushing the bar a little bit. He needs somebody to slap him up or something. And I'm just the person to do it."

LeBron Says He Didn't Think Cavs Would Make the Finals This Season

RadioOnFire.comThe greatness of LeBron James this season has been a true testament to his 15-year career. The 33-year-old superstar played all 82 regular season games as well as all 18 playoff games to make it to his 8th consecutive NBA finals (4th consecutive against the Golden State Warriors). While the road was not easy for the Cleveland Cavaliers as they dealt with injuries and rosters changes, LeBron says there was a time he questioned whether the team would make it to the NBA Finals.
In an interview with ESPN's Rachel Nichols, James explained that his issues with the Cavs started from the offseason.

"Even if you start back to the summertime where I felt like it was just bad for our franchise just to be able to trade away our superstar point guard," James said. “Obviously I wasn't a part of the communications and know exactly what went on between the two sides. But I just felt like it was bad timing for our team."

He continued, "We just had so many things going with our team. We shuffled in different lineups, we shuffled in different players, we made a trade at the deadline, and I can't sit here right now and say that the Finals was a part of my thinking. It was not."

Kim Kardashian Met with Trump About Pardoning Female Prisoner

RadioOnFire.com - Kim Kardashian parted from the posh hills of Calabasas for a sitdown with President Trump in Washington on Wednesday, May 30, to petition the release of a woman who has spent the past 21 years behind bars as a first-time offender caught up in a drug conspiracy case.
Kim has been advocating on Alice Johnson's name since October of 2017 when she shared a viral video laying out the Mississippi native's case. Johnson was a single mother who had lost her husband and job and resorted to getting involved in the drug trade as a means of making quick money in the mid 90's. That choice would eventually lead to her arrest in a sting that resulted in her getting life in prison without parole in 1997.

Johnson has contended that she never actually sold drugs, but did play a communications role in the operation. Still, the money laundering and drug conspiracy charges she was convicted of carried a weighty sentence under Alabama's mandatory minimum laws at the time. This, despite her having a record clean of any prior drug convictions.
With Trump advisor Jared Kushner leading a charge to institute drug reform laws in government, many have been reaching out for him to free Johnson as a gesture of goodwill towards the cause. Kim is scheduled to meet with Kushner to discuss the case, before moving a few doors over to formally convene with the President.

Grand Jury Returns Indictments Against Teens Charged In Officer's Killing

RadioOnFire.com - The teenagers charged in the killing of a Baltimore County police officer were indicted Wednesday by a grand jury.

Officer Amy Caprio was run down May 21 while responding to call regarding a suspicious vehicle in Perry Hall.

Derrick Matthews, 15, Darrell Ward, 16, and Eugene Genius, 17, are accused of burglarizing a house on Linwen Way while Dawnta Harris, 16, waited outside in a Jeep and the fatal encounter occurred. The teens were indicted on charges of first-degree murder, burglary and conspiracy to commit burglary.

According to the Baltimore County State's Attorney's Office, under Maryland law, if an individual is involved in the commission of a burglary and a person is killed during the commission of that offense, then the individual has committed a first-degree murder.

Trippie Redd Arrested in Atlanta

RadioOnFire.com - Word got around on Tuesday (May 29) that Trippie Redd and Lil Wop were involved in a fist fight, after a video of rapper FDM Grady claiming he got jumped by the duo went viral. Hours later, an arrest report revealed that Trippie and Wop were actually arrested over the skirmish.

Trippie was detained at Stonecrest Drive at around 2:22 p.m. according to Cobb County police. The document going around doesn't list the reason he was taken into custody, but it has since been reported that him and Wop were booked on a couple of misdemeanor charges for fighting and criminal trespass, with Trippie incurring an additional charge for simple battery.

FDM Grady claims that his rap counterparts attacked him with the assistance of two other men after he confronted Trippie about speaking with disrespect towards his girlfriend. Grady alleges that he was all but ready to use his gun in self defense, but thought it more fitting to put his knuckle game to the test. Throughout the recording, he boasts about what little damage was done to him despite having been outnumbered.

Both Trippie and Wop have been known to shoot the fair one when problems have been presented to them in the past. Grady would suffer a busted lip and scraped knuckles as a result of the altercation.

'Donda's House' Was at Risk of Closing Before Rhymefest/Kim K Beef

RadioOnFire.com - It looks like Kim Kardashian wasn't lying when in her response to Rhymefest's claim that Kanye West has abandoned the community organization he helped found, she told Fest: "Truth is you haven't been able to sustain the foundation."

Documents unearthed from the Office of the Illinois Secretary of State reveal that Donda's House has been given a "Not Good Standing" classification for 2018. As a non-profit organization operating under 501c3 status, it is required that paperwork providing updates on the agency's leadership, purpose, and goals be submitted annually.

According to an official from the state's office, administrators over at Donda's House failed to file their report by the April 1 deadline. As a result, the Chicago based charity now has five months to get right with the state or it will be automatically dissolved.

Such a fate wouldn't bode well for the more than 500 young people who have been serviced with four years of empowering arts programming in the troubled city. It also stands to leave a black eye on Ye's legacy, seeing how his name has been attached to Donda's House since it was established in his mother's name back in 2014.

While Fest has stepped up from his initial role as Creative Director to run the organization, Kanye himself has been listed as director in years past.

New Study Shows Almost 5000 People Died in Puerto Rican Hurricane

RadioOnFire.com - According to a recent report, a new study suggests that the official death toll in Puerto Rico of 64 after last year's hurricane was "a substantial underestimate." Scientists at Harvard’s T.H. Chan School of Public Health suggest that the actual death toll from Hurricane Maria is "in excess of" 4,645.

NPR reports that as oppose to the conventional method of finding and counting dead bodies, they elected to survey 3,299 randomly chosen households over the course of three weeks, interviewing citizens about their experiences, and garnering an estimate from there. The researchers claim that there’s a 95 percent likelihood the official death toll lies somewhere between 800 and 8,500 people, with 5,000 seeming most accurate.

The 3,299 households were asked about displacement, loss of infrastructure, and causes of death. The researchers reached their excess death figures by comparing their estimates of post-hurricane mortality rates with the official rates for the same period in 2016 which presented a discrepancy of 62 percent.

The study, published in The New England Journal of Medicine today, concludes that “the number of excess deaths related to Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico is more than 70 times the official estimate.”

Researchers say even though the study spanned three weeks and ended December 31 2017, hurricane related deaths are still likely occurring.

Roseanne Apologizes, Blames Ambien for Actions

RadioOnFire.com - Comedian Roseanne Barr recently tweeted that Obama advisor Valerie Jarret, who is black, resembles the offspring of “muslim brotherhood and planet of the apes," Slatereports. Roseanne Barr then announced she was leaving Twitter, but she was back on it less than 12 hours later.

Roseanne tweeted again, "ABC has canceled my sitcom and I have nothing to lose." That, however, was only the beginning of the tweet blizzard, when she began retweeting her supporters' posts, then critics' commentary, then fans' tweets again.

In her maniac Twitter relaunch, Barr finally apologized to Valerie Jarrett:

"@ValerieJarrett I want to apologize to you. I am very sorry to have hurt you. I hope you can accept this sincere apology!"

"@ValerieJarrett i don't know if u saw it, but I wanted2 apologize to u 4 hurting and upsetting u with an insensitive & tasteless tweet. I am truly sorry-my whole life has been about fighting racism. I made a terrible mistake wh caused hundreds of ppl 2 lose their jobs. so sorry!

Roseanne Barr's Sitcom 'Roseanne' Canceled by ABC After Racist Tweet

RadioOnFire.com - ABC canceled its hit sitcom "Roseanne" on Tuesday after the show's biggest star, Roseanne Barr, went on a racist Twitter rant.

"Roseanne's Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values, and we have decided to cancel her show," ABC said. The cancellation comes just months after the show premiered to huge ratings.

Barr had earlier apologized and said she was "now leaving Twitter."

Following Barr's Twitter rant, one of the show's consulting producers, Wanda Sykes, said she's done with the show. "I will not be returning to @RoseanneOnABC," Sykes tweeted.

And Sara Gilbert, who plays Barr's daughter on the ABC sitcom, tweeted that Barr's comments are "abhorrent and do not reflect the beliefs of our cast and crew or anyone associated with our show."

Gilbert added: "This is incredibly sad and difficult for all of us, as we've created a show that we believe in, are proud of, and that audiences love — one that is separate and apart from the opinions and words of one cast member."

Barr is notorious for tweeting about pro-Trump conspiracy theories and other controversial topics. This week she repeatedly attacked prominent Democrats.

In one of the tweets, she wrote, "Muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby=vj."

Barr was responding to a comment about Valerie Jarrett, a top former aide to President Obama. She replied to CNN reporter Andrew Kaczynski and said it was "a joke."

But Barr later deleted the tweet and tweeted an apology to Jarrett and "all Americans."

"I am truly sorry for making a bad joke about her politics and her looks," Barr tweeted. "I should have known better. Forgive me -- my joke was in bad taste." Barr then said she's leaving Twitter.

Jarrett declined to comment.

Social media lit up with criticism of both Barr and ABC, with some demanding a response from the broadcast network. ABC has not replied to CNNMoney's request for comment.

I apologize to Valerie Jarrett and to all Americans. I am truly sorry for making a bad joke about her politics and her looks. I should have known better. Forgive me-my joke was in bad taste.— Roseanne Barr (@therealroseanne) May 29, 2018

Young Dolph Tells Crowd to Stop 'F*** Yo Gotti' Chant, Performs Diss Track

RadioOnFire.com - Seven months have passed since Young Dolph survived the second attempt on his life in under a year. Shooting No. 2 was even more controversial than the first one, seeing how Yo Gotti wound up being taken in as a person of interest.

Over the weekend, it became clear that a couple of near death experiences won't be enough for Dolph to let go of their four-year-long beef. Video footage has been circulating social media since Dolph's performance at the Gas Monkey Live! (May 27).

The clip shows the Dallas crowd chanting "F*** Yo Gotti!" repeatedly before he cuts in to request that they put an end to their instigating. Then, following an awkward pause, he riled them up again by calling on the DJ to play his menacing Yo Gotti diss track, "Play Wit Yo’ B*tch.”

"Hold up, hold up, hold up... We ain't going to do him like that, man," Dolph told his audience, before shifting gears with a: "Sike!" Dolph and Yo Gotti have been quarreling since 2014, when he informed listeners that his Memphis counterpart had a vendetta against him because he refused to sign with CMG.

Eventually, others would get involved in the feud, with Blac Youngsta being one of the more vocal nemesis to back Gotti against Dolph. Months prior to last September's shooting, Youngsta was arrested after authorities suspected him of being involved in an incident involving 100 shots being fired at Dolph's bulletproof SUV.

Starbucks Closed 8,000 Stores For Racial Bias Training

RadioOnFire.com - Starbucks will be closing 8,000 locations across the country for "racial bias education day". The company-wide decision is a result of a viral video that shows two Black men being removed from a Philadelphia Starbucks.

The men were escorted out by police after waiting at the coffee shop without making a purchase. The video also shows bystanders questioning the authorities' actions. The following footage sparked outrage and made headlines nationwide. Majority of viewers shamed Starbucks, saying that situation was racially fueled.

Starbucks first made the announcement regarding the training back in April, following the incident:

"On 5/29, we'll close US company-owned stores to conduct racial-bias training to address implicit bias & prevent discrimination. We're taking a hard look at who we are as a company. We’re ashamed & recognize that racial bias is a problem we must address", the company stated via Twitter.

Missing National Guardsman Found Dead 2 Days After Flood

RadioOnFire.com - A Howard County spokesman on Tuesday confirmed searchers found the body of a National Guard member who went missing following the Sunday flooding in Ellicott City.
Police on Tuesday afternoon said searchers found the body of an adult male in the Patapsco River, just across the Baltimore County line. That victim was later identified as 39-year-old Eddison Hermond of Severn. He was last seen trying to help a woman rescue her cat behind a restaurant.
Howard County Police Chief Gary Gardner said the missing National Guard member and U.S. Air Force veteran had been with a group at the La Palapa Grill & Cantina. He said Hermond was trying to help others by holding a door open as brown floodwaters coursed through the restaurant when a woman approached, desperately trying to rescue her pet just outside.
“He, along with some other folks, went back to assist her and unfortunately during that effort they saw him go under and water and not surface,” Gardner told reporters, adding that the others made it out of the area safely.
Simon Cortes, who owns the restaurant, described Hermond as “a super nice guy,” who was frequently out in the community showing support when it worked to rebuild from the devastating flooding that ravaged the former mill town in July 2016.
WBAL-TV 11 and the Associated Press contributed to this report.
