Steph Curry & Diddy Team Up with Billionaire to Buy Carolina Panthers

RadioOnFire.com - Headlines citing the latest word on the sale of the Carolina Panthers resumed on Wednesday (March 14) after an article published by ESPN's David Newton reported that Diddy and Steph Curry have moved one step closer to the possibility of becoming minority owners of the NFL team.

According to what's been learned from conversations had with league insiders, Newton confirms that Diddy has pretty much-abandoned plans to pursue majority ownership, and is instead agreeing to get down with a team of investors put together by sports apparel mogul Michael Rubin in hopes of making a winning offer for the 24-year-old franchise. Joining the bidding group will be Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry, who was raised in North Carolina and has expressed his interest to be a part of any purchase of the team.

It was announced back in December that founding owner, Jerry Richardson, was putting the Panthers on the market amid swarming accusations of sexual misconduct. In the days that followed Diddy dominated the news cycle by making his vision to bring a Black-owned team to professional football known. It now appears that the Bad Boy boss will be satisfied settling for a piece of the pie, as will Curry, seeing how Rubin reportedly aims to pull from his $3 billion fortune to pay down the 30 percent portion that would make him Carolina's main owner.

The Panthers are expected to command a price that exceeds $2 billion. For the moment Rubin's main competition for the highest bid comes down to hedge fund billionaire David Tepper and Sherman Financial Group CEO Ben Navarro.
