Crews are working in around-the-clock shifts until all service is restored, but BGE officials say work could be delayed by hazardous conditions, including downed trees and limbs that must be removed before work can be done. High winds can also limit the use of bucket trucks.
Even if you have a smart meter, you're asked to report your outage. You can go to BGE's website or use the utility's mobile app. You can also call 1-877-778-2222 to report outages and downed wires.
Customers with special needs who require electricity for devices like medical equipment should make backup plans if they do experience an extended outage. Public safety and critical care centers, such as hospitals and 911 centers, will be the priority for restoration. From there, crews will try to get the greatest number of customers back online as quickly as possible.
