Authorities Investigate Possible Shooting Near NSA Campus

RadioOnFire.com - WBAL reports that authorities are investigating a possible shooting involving a SUV at the gate of the National Security Agency Wednesday morning, officials said. At least one person has been taken to the hospital and no injuries appear to be life-threatening at this point. A suspect is reportedly in custody.

NSA Police and local law enforcement are addressing an incident that took place this morning at one of NSA's secure vehicle entry gates. The situation is under control and there is no ongoing security or safety threat.

Ft. Meade officials confirmed that the incident happened on the Canine Road gate to the NSA. Route 32 near I-295 was closed in both directions for about an hour, but it is now open. Many other roads in the area are experiencing heavy traffic.

The Anne Arundel Police Department is not the investigating agency, the department said on Twitter.

Several airbags were deployed after a black SUV ran into a barrier of the NSA campus.

The FBI is investigating. Employees at the NSA are now being allowed into the building.

Police activity has ended in the area. Images from NBC Washington appear to show a vehicle with bullet holes in it.
