RadioOnFire.com - This past weekend, Wild 'N Out host Nick Cannon performed at a show for Georgian Court University’s homecoming. The university is a Catholic school and reportedly found his stand-up bit to be offensive. Because of that, the school issued a notice pointing out how disappointed they were with Cannon’s act. The school said, “Mr. Cannon blatantly disregarded the terms of our contract, and much of his act ran counter to what we stand for at GCU.”
From there, the school pointed out that comedy often crosses with social issues, but Nick Cannon’s act “crossed the line.” Cannon has been much more vocal in the last year about political issues, and now they seem to be making their way to his stand-up, which some may not agree with. The university went to label his words offensive and apologized. They also said, “...the university has demanded an official apology from the artist and his representatives.” Since then, the letter has spread and made its way to media outlets. Nick Cannon is never one to shy away from issues involving his name or brand and took to Twitter to voice his thoughts on the letter he was sent. Cannon said “I ain’t apologizing for sh-t LOL… wait, I’m sorry your university doesn’t believe in freedom of speech!!!”
Despite the backlash from the university, attendees of the show tweeted about how much they actually enjoyed Cannon’s stand-up act.
