RadioOnFire.com - An Anne Arundel County police detective allegedly made unwanted advances on a suspect and paid for sex while he was on duty.
The charges against Detective Brian Houseman, 44, include fourth degree sex offense, two counts of prostitution, four counts of misconduct in office and extortion by a government employee.
An investigation into Houseman's actions stemmed from a statement by a woman who said she had been harassed and sexually assaulted by him. The woman told police that last November, while he was assigned to investigate her case, Houseman made unwanted advances, including sending an unwanted picture of his genitalia. She also said that Houseman suggested that they have sex.
Detectives found that Houseman made sexual comments in texts with a female suspect, while on duty, in early February.
They also found that on March 10 and April 19, the 13-year-veteran allegedly discussed the exchange of sex for money with two women. Houseman allegedly exchanged money for sex in mid-March. The detective was on duty both times.
Police say Houseman was arrested on May 2. Prior to his arrest, his police powers were suspended and he was assigned to administrative duties.
