RadioOnFire.com - Police surrounded 50 Cent’s Connecticut mansion after being summoned there for a break-in on Tuesday afternoon.
The rapper’s security camera captured footage of a man making his way onto the premises. Police apprehended suspect Elwin Joyce, 34, at the scene and charged him with burglary, criminal trespass, criminal mischief, criminal attempt at larceny, and possession of burglary tools. He’s currently being held on $100,000 bond. 50 Cent no longer resides in the mansion that once belonged to boxing legend Mike Tyson. The rapper purchased it back in 2003 and has been trying to sell it for over a year. It was originally listed at $8.5 million but was dropped to $2.5 million after a bankruptcy judge approved a plan to reorganize the rapper’s finances in July 2016. 50 Cent filed for Chapter 11 in 2015.
The rapper purchased the 50,000-square foot mansion for $4.1 million back in 2003. It sits on a 17-acre property and includes 25 bathrooms, an indoor pool and hot tub, a nightclub, game rooms, a full gym, recording studio, a home theater, a pool, a grotto, a basketball court, guesthouses and a helicopter landing. Tyson, who owned the home before the rapper lost it in a divorce settlement with his ex-wife Monica Turner. 50 acquired the home from Turner and added the grotto and other luxuries including stripper poles. At the time Tyson had warned 50 Cent not to purchase the home, but the rapper went ahead with buying it anyway.
Aside from the break-in, 50 Cent has been busy gearing up for the new season of his hit series “Power” which will premiere on Starz on June 25. He also announced a new late-night show on BET titled 50 Central where he will attempt to compete with heavyweights like Jimmy Fallon and Jimmy Kimmel.
