Maryland State Trooper And Another Driver Hospitalized After Crash On The I-495 Inner Loop


RadioOnFire.com - A Maryland state trooper and the driver of a passenger car are hospitalized following a crash this morning.
The trooper, identified as Trooper First Class Robert Cearfoss, was flown to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center after his vehicle was struck on the shoulder of the inner loop of I-495 in Prince George's County, per a Maryland State Police news release. 
Cearfoss was "extricated by responding fire and rescue personnel" after being trapped inside his marked 2016 Ford Explorer patrol vehicle.
Elwin J. Cedilloz, 23, of Washington, D.C., who was behind the wheel in a 2016 Dodge Dart, "left the travel portion of the inner loop and struck the rear of the State Police patrol vehicle." Cedilloz was transported by ambulance to Prince George's Hospital Trauma Center.
Charges are pending at this time. The cause of the crash has not been positively identified, but troopers are investigating the possibility that alcohol was involved, according to the release.
