National Urban League to Host 2016 Conference in Baltimore

RadioOnFire.com - The National Urban League, the nation's oldest and largest community-based civil rights organization, has announced it will hold its 2016 conference in Baltimore.

More than 13,000 attendees are expected to attend and bring an estimated $4.2 million economic ripple to the city next August.

The decision is the largest such announcement since the civil unrest following the April death of Freddie Gray, who suffered a severe spinal cord injury while in police custody.

The organization's president and CEO Marc Morial said in a statement that he hopes the conference's presence will have a noticeable effect upon the local community.

The conference is scheduled to be held from Aug. 3 through Aug. 6, 2016 and is expected to fill 6,000 hotel room nights.
